While it is accurate to say that Petacchi beat Boonen, there MAY be
more to the story. There's a good chance that Boonen may not have
pushed it as hard as perhaps he could've, knowing that he himself may
have been responsible for the group catching his teammate who was on a
pretty clear path to victory.

The cyclingnews story pointed out that he (Boonen) started celebrating
for his teammate before crossing the line, allowing one person to come
around him. We'll never know if Boonen himself could've come around
Petacchi had his teammate not been ahead.

If he did ease up a bit to insure his teammate's victory, he showed
incredible class (which he's done many times already) and will have
earned even more respect/loyalty from his team.

So far, I've gleaned that pettachi beat Boonen, but that someone else
(possibly a teammate of Boonen) actually won the race, that McEwen is
Australian (I knew that) and Ewoud has a thing for Dekker.

I'm going to have to go and read one of those Australian cycling news
