If you aren't scared of the roads and prefer a direct route, I would
just go straight up Stirling Highway, Cross over onto the cycle, sorry
Principal Shared Path at the lights just after the University, ride
along Mounts Bay Road on the path all the way to Barrack Street and
straight up Barrack Street which becomes Beaufort St then Broun Avenue
into the bottom end of Morley. This would be my choice because I like
    fast and direct.

    Stirling Highway.. ARE YOU NUTS?

That twunt is a good reason to stay at work or even get rid of your TV.

I have trouble driving! along Stirling Highway. Even on a Saturday I'd
be a bit worried. Railway parade into the city is a nice route though.
Can't help with the city to Morley bit.

Does anybody know why everything is being posted 10000 times?

Anyway thanks...I will try it this Sat (maybe will risk Stirling...eh). Maybe I'll write from hospital next time. Any good ED here? hehehe
Weather is meant to be nice...

Sure, Fremantle hospital at one end of Stirling Hwy, and "charlies" at
the other. But just ride near the rail line, on the road or cycle path,
and avoid the hospital stay. Its possibly THE worst road in Perth for
    cycling. Or driving.

Of course, if you come from Sydney, you'll feel
right at home on that road. If you come from Queensland, and miss
the abuse from drivers, just go cycling near Armadale.

  15. Im eternally ungrateful for that wider centre island put in, instead of marked bike lanes, as Stirling Hway goes thru claremont/nedlands.

I ride on the highway, its a road, and Im entitled dammit. Another idea would be stirling hway to claremont, bike path OR the road down the railway line to subi, then railside bikepath subi to perth is actually faster than the road because it doesnt have stops once you get out of subi. That would take you up to beaufort st!

LOL everytime i ride down the road through Southern River i either get abused or get a mirror graze my arm. Im scared that i will get cleaned up and knocked into the wetland either side and never be seen again....

Its like riding around all the northern suburbs really. I wouldnt ride up Beaufort st in the morning if you enjoy your sanity. Thats makes you a magnet for bad drivers.

    Hi there!

I am a wee little bit new to this city (kind of). I wonder if anybody
would have a good way of riding from Claremont/Mosman Park area to
Morley. I drive it easily enough by car, but was thinking of riding to
work one Saturday morning (and returning early afternoon).

Any ideas? I've tried to make sense of the bike maps (online - dept of
infrastructure or something) but just can't work out a reasonable
    route.

    Thanks.:o

    My two cents worth
Claremont MosPark, Take Curtin Ave (beach side of railway) to just
before Servetus St cross over to the bike path on the west of the
railway. Take this to Claremont Station, get onto Shenton Rd and take
the bikepath again just before the subway at the showgrounds, thi goes
to Stubbs Tce past Army Barracks, up the hill (incidentally this is part
of the ATTA TT circuit in two weeks) take Stubb s Tce to Nicholson and
veer right at the end and take the bike path over Nicholson and then
back onto Stubbs into Subiaco, there is another subway under Hay St that
    lets you get into Subi.
The bikepath then takes off at the lights at Hay and Rokeby. This goes
through to the Ent Centre and the ped/bike bridge over the railway, and
continues on to Perth Central Station.
Now either take Beaufort, mostly one lane of parked car and numbnuts
opening them in your path, turning cars, traffic light on hills etc or
you can continue to follow the bike path along the west of the railway
past Mt Lawley, Maylands and to bayswater, then just a brief hill climb
into Morley either Coode St or Drake St(preferred).
That gets you back to Beaufort/Broun Ave.
I belive the bike path takes a lot of time by virtue of less dead time
at traffic controls, have a bell on your bike.
Nice ride to do ten times a week, I'm jealous
    Steven

  18. Thanks for all the help guys!

I am starting to think that I should either move house or start working elsewhere! Having said that, I am on a slow countdown until Saturday's trial ride! I hope I make it to work on time, considering I will be the only person there, it's not a bad idea!

  19. Well, perhaps in a moment of suicidal tendency, I braved Stirling Hwy. Actually it was quite good in the morning. I will have to try one of the other suggested routes for the return trip next time.
