Nah, Bike Week is so packed that the Masters Criterium championships are
in Rockingham at the same time the freeway ride starts, so I won't be there.

I rode through the tunnel when it first opened. Walked through on the
Saturday and rode on the Sunday morning before it opened in the
afternoon. It was quite a buzz. Of course that was before I started
driving through it on a weekly basis.

Have fun. I guess you gave the organisers a fast estimated time on that
new bike of yours.

I'm doing it with the family. Under the rules, as no. 2 duaghter is under 12 years old, she cannot ride the 30km course (although if you put an icecream stall at the end, she would ride the 30km and go straight past/through a few of those Italian carbon fibre tricked-up race bikes as if they were standing still 😄 )

I had to decide whether to ride the 10km with the family or do 30km with the team from work. The family ride won out in the end. It is supposed to be an easy Sunday ride after all.

Yep, thought I would do it for the novelty factor. I am fortunate to not
have to worry about the logistics of getting too\from the start\finish as I
live north so it will just be a loop for me. Don't know about putting their
sticker on my CF frame though!?

I'm just gonna ride the commuter MTB on Sunday but I still wasn't happy about putting the stickers on frames either. So I've made some number plates out of plastic cut from ice cream containers which I'll attach using zip ties to top tubes and down tubes of the bikes. Official numbers will be stuck onto those vertical number plates.

Why not just go through it during peak hour? Start at around 8:30am or 5pm
and ride straight through all the banked up cars.

Is CF so fragile? For half/ironman we need stickers on our bikes and
it's really not an issue at all. Oh, except for finding space around all
the bidon cages (esp behind the seat), the gu flask and bento box on the
top tube, the aeros and computer...

Got my bib, bike's in order!

In case you're interested, my brother and I will probably join the ride
organised by the Cycle Touring Club from Belmont forum to Belmont Park. If
you're driving from Freo it's an easier option than trying to find parking
with the other 5000 (I'm told) expected at Belmont Park. The ride leaves
Belmont Forum at 6.30 am. A little warmup, eh?

I have other stickers/decals on the top tube of the MTB commuter and I don't want to run the risk of lifting those when I remove the 'bikehike' stickers.

Hmm, the fixie. I did flirt with the idea and I might still do it.
I've decided not to take the new CF bike - it might get knocked about
on the train trip back with family. Not only that, I don't want to put
a sticker on the tube (as someone else said). I was going to take my
steel frame road bike but the fixie would be good. It now has a very
distinctive red seat tube. I expect I'll be wearing my standard yellow
jersey. Yeah, I know, I feel a prat wearing yellow on a bike what with
the TDF association but it's visible and it goes with my yellow bike.
Or I could go the blue jersey to go with the blue fixie. Decisions,
decisions!

Thanks for that, it looks like the spouse will give me a lift to
somewhere closish to the start and then she'll park somewhere and catch
the train up with sprogs to meet me there. We'll be giving a mate of
mine a lift as well. My bib number is B1523 which I interpret as rider
1523 the second fastest group - that's a some peleton.

My girls are half Queenslander and half Western Australian. They definitely have the ice cream gene.

And I'm not the only motivator in this exercise. The girls watch a certain rubbishy soapy on TV at night and 2 of the (young male) 'stars' have been featuring in adverts saying they will be riding. What is the first aid treatment for a 'swoon' off a bicycle?

Actually, it looks like I'll be catching the train back with wife and
kids so I'm reluctant to take the new carbon fiber jobbie. I'm not
confident that others will treat it with the save reverence that I will,
especially on a crowded train.

I'll be taking my steel-is-real yellow Cinelli.

I'm hoping it will be fun.

Duncan, you dont ride down the Kwinana freeway bike path down near rowley rd, etc do you??. I also have a yellow steel framed proxima cinelli and always remember seeing someone else with the exact same frame.

No, CF isn't so fragile, but I am! It's my baby, how could I possibly do
anything to it that might hurt it? Bikes have feelings too!!
