Hi Nel, I usually see you on the SBC groups. "Closed sides"
and all that if I remember correctly. 🙂

I'm not an expert on this, but I have had this done a few
times in the context of a stress test. The persantine
basically simulates the effect of exercise on the heart. I
had no problems except a slight feeling of anxiety caused by
the drug. Others, however, have reported more uncomfortable
feelings, but they quickly inject you with a counter agent
and it is over quickly. So no big deal.

I'm a little confused by the dye in the heart statement. Are
you having an angiogram - which is done in the hospital and
they do use dye? Or maybe a nuclear stress test which they
inject you with a small amount of radioactive material but
it really is not dye but does allow them to image the heart.

Is you son back from overseas?

Persantine is a chemical substance that can bring out
coronary perfusion abnormalities in a manner different from
the stress of physical exercise. The "dye" (cardiolite) is
actually a relatively short-lived radioactive substance that
has affinity for living heart muscle.

Hey, You have seen me on the SBC groups. Which one did I
mention my son in Saudi? No, he's still doing work over
there. Work for the USA with computers in Jeddah. Safe so
far. The Persantine is a nuclear test. And I'm told from the
AFib group that they inject the dye and then your on the
treadmill, x-ray the heart, and they do that again. 'O happy

Hi Nel,

Don't remember specifically which group. But I do remember
telling you to whack your monitor on the side, and that
seemed to work for a bit. 🙂

Anyway, as I said, the test is no big deal. Be sure to be
there on time because they prepare expensive stuff
especially for you. You will probably have to lie still for
20 or 30 minutes while they take pictures of your heart.
Wear appropriate clothes. I think there are some things you
are not suppose to eat or drink before hand. With the
Persantine, if they don't put you on the treadmill for a
little exercise, you might suggest they do so. It improves
the image quality a little. But each place has their own
protocol and Drs. rarely listen to patients on such things.

Bill, I remember you're the one that told me to whack the
monitor, and that kept it going for 3 or 4 months and it was
still doing fine.

I had to whack it about every 3 or 4 days. I really thought
you were kidding, but it worked...:-) So now I have this LCD
that is giving me a pain. Can't cut down the brightness.
I've tried everything. The buttons on front I run down to 20
from 70 and no change...The disk that came with it (Samsung)
doesn't do anything either. Have to have the guy that
installed it for me to come back out I guess. Maybe I should
have kelp on slapping the other one. "Nel"
