  1. Just a rant, I have nobody else to share my misery with.

I order some stuff from Performance Bike for an event on the 18th. I order it on the 7th. That would seem like plenty of time to anybody.

It's now the 22nd. They didn't even process my order until the 10th. The first gal on the phone told me to call back the next day, as she didn't know where the order was.... I call back, Performance Bike cannot tell me if I will ever get the order or where it is....!?

    So, as it stands:
Performance Bike has no idea where my order is.
They can't tell me when or even if I will get it. This means I can't just order the item somewhere else, as it would seem I've already ordered it and it's "somewhere".
They can't do anything about it. (was told that by them)
I can't do anything about it. (was told by them)

Best case scenario, they will ship me another one on the 28th, and they estimate 7-10 days to get it. This puts a simple order for bike parts at 5+ weeks to get to me. <shaking my head in disgust> This is the age of fast shipping, internet ordering, and instant messaging. 5 weeks to get an in-stock item............... I could have ordered this stuff from any clown on eBay and got it 5 days for the same money.

What am I gonna do, not order from them? What do they care?!

And before anybody rags on me for not being patient?! Let my preface this with the fact that I own a mail order company that ships thousands of packages a week. I understand EXACTLY what it takes to keep things moving and shipped on time. It's really not that hard. That's what mail order companys are setup to do. SHIP PACKAGES.

    It's just unacceptable.

Sorry about the rant. Just disgusted, and nobody at Performance Bike cares.

Yea, it's a "bash" thread, but I'm entitled to one. 🙂

I suspect 3-4 people will say they've had good luck there, 3-4 people will think I suck, and a few will not care. BUT, that's the chance you take. :p I feel better.

  2. I've cooled down a bit. Don't reply to this... Just let it go.

    "Enhance your calm John Spartan...."

  3. Hey stormer,
Guess I'll be one of the 3 or 4 who've had good luck with Performance. Sorry you had such a rough time with them. Like I say, I haven't had any problems with them, but I also live in the same town as their warehouse. Most of the things I order from them online arrive the next day. Just curious: were the things you ordered in stock at the time you placed your order?

By the way, your signature inspired me to put together one of my own. Hope you don't mind my stealing your idea!

    Cool. 🙂

The cholesterol thing is a good idea. I should look into that.

165 pounds. Cool stuff. That's where I'm trying to get to know.

My blood pressure has always been pretty good, but I should check into that pulse thing.

As for my cholesterol, my doc said he'd never seen anyone's numbers change like that. Needless to say, I was grinning from ear-to-ear when I left his office.

  7. I am fortunate to be about an hour away from a PerformanceBike retail store, in Metro Atlanta. If fact, I was there today. They had everything I was looking for BUT. I wanted a pair of splice shorts for my girlfriend. The catalog had them listed as $34.99, on sale, $19.99.
I forgot to bring the catalog. The salesman said "No, these are the 'Classic' Splice for $34.99, we don't have the regular 'Splice' in stock." Not wanting to wait, I bought them for $34.99.
I got home and found the catalog. Sure enough, there is only the Classic Splice and they were on sale for $19.99 in the catalog. I called and they said they would go with the catalog price, but I would have to come back in for a refund. I'm not sure $15.00 is worth an hour + drive in Metro Atlanta.

That could be only 5 miles away though in Atlanta. I used to live there. HATED that traffic.

  9. i have always had better luck calling in my order. i have ordered online a few times and it seems that it always takes a couple extra days to process. and when i call, they say they are having computer problems. so lately i have been calling in my order and the stuff always goes out same day.

I too had a pretty bad experience getting somthing from them that I ordered on line. I did this the same day that I ordered stuff from Excel Sports and Bike Nashbar. Both the other orders arrived within 4 days. The Performance one took 2.5 weeks. All three had the same shipped requested. I emailed them and complained and got a form letter "we're sorry." I've been told that if you are a team Performance member, they get your stuff out right a way, but why do I want to pay money to become a team member when I am ordering from them to save money?

  11. Never had a problem getting stuff from Performance (or Nashbar/Supergo either). Then again I'm only a couple of hours away from Chapel Hill, NC which is where their warehouses are located. If they have it in stock, it's 4 days max.

  12. It's been a while since I talked to anyone at Performance but last time was told the web orders had to be manually entered into their computer system before they could process them, so until that was done they really didn't have any idea what was going on. Judging by the speed of my last order - and I only order from them when I can get a 20% off coupon on top of a sale price - they are still doing it the same way.

It's a good thing they haven't imposed their system on Nashbar and Supergo post acquisition.
