I just don't think I speak "dog" well enough to tell the difference between "I know you're not a
threat, but you're good running practice" and "Your leg looks mighty tasty, and I have a hankering
for a little human flesh." But I can't grow potted plants or raise fish either.

encounter a malevolent animal, but none has ever succeeded in putting
his teeth in me. I find that if I keep the pedals turning, the dog
running alongside is unable to bite a moving target. Twice that I can
think of, I thwarted a particularly persistent dog with a bop on the
head with a tire pump.
