Pathfinder Maps - Where are they?

The Pathfinder maps have been withdrawn and replace by the
Explorer map series. Maybe this would do instead.

Sadly they have been replaced by the Explorer series. You
may find some shops / mail order map suppliers still have
stocks of the less popular sheets but all the popular sheets
are probably long gone.

You might need to ring them as I doubt that they would
bother putting the dribs and drabs left on their websites.

These are the old 2nd series green covers.. Gone! replaced
by the orange "Explorer"

Try the Map Shop,Upton on Severn, they may have some
old stock.

Sadly due to the replaced by. If they were still available
alongside the Explorers and up to date like the Explorers I
would still be buying them.

I like that fact that they are small! Somewhat inconvenient
when crossing sheet boundaries but much less cumbersome than
an Explorer or OL. And while I'm on the subject I hate the
double sided OL maps. I would much rather have two sheets.

Yes, the introduction of Explorer maps finally made 1:25000
mapping accessible and affordable for those parts of the
country not covered for the Outdoor Leisure series. I used
to have the 8 (!!) Pathfinder maps for Anglesey (since
replaced by 2 Explorer maps), and they cost a fortune, were
very inconvenient, and lacked a lot of the useful info. the
Explorers have (car parks etc.).

Every shirt I buy is too long in the arms, but I can cope ok
with the large maps (indoors)! I scan and print A4 sheets
for carrying when out walking, and thus keep my maps in good
condition long after they are out of date.

gives the good old OS twice as much dosh as they're
'entitled' to.

Why? The single-sided ones are the same price.

I feel the pain if and when I buy a new OS map, but it soon
passes off when I realise that they are cheap compared with
the price of a consumer item like a pint of beer or a gallon
of petrol.

Being able to afford most of Scotland at 1:25k, and often
having the whole hill on the sheet is definitely progress.

They are not like the old OL maps... They are as manageable
as 1:50k maps.

And yes, I agree.. The Carneddau case was a bad &😉9 up! But
other than that, I am happy to live with the extra km/£

But if they were one sided instead.. you would still give em
twice as much. we would all give them twice as much.

Two sided maps are a pain, but its a rare example of getting
a little extra for your money from our chums in Southampton.
