Can any reader answer my query?
I make my own pasta and wonder if it is necessary to drop the lasagne sheets
into the boiling water prior to preparing, for the oven. Could I use it raw
and leave it to cook in the oven?

Yes, no problem. Just make sure you've got enough moisture in your lasagne
to properly hydrate the pasta. For example, I make a relatively dry lasagne
and prefer to precook the pasta. My husband's lasagne is quite wet; he uses
dry pasta quite successfully without precooking it.
