Got me sum luverly eggbeater pedals today. Spent a couple of minutes farting about trying to engage as there apparently had to be a bit of foreplay to earn their respect 😄 😄 😄 , but once i got in and and out a few times they were/are a cracker!
Quite easy to get in and way easy to get out of. Very solid to pedal on (much to my surprise durig the test ride) and stomping gave a very reassuring feeling. You can flip the cleat to give you more/less float and i decided to have it on the more liberal setting to start with. Even tho they have quite a bit of movement laterally you still feel more 'solidly anchored'. hard to explain, but there you have it. As its on the fixed (must come up with a name for it) there is a psychological (if nothing else) feeling of greater clearance too. Cleats are easier (no noise/scratching) to walk on too. you can walk on spds pretty easy but running is a bit iffy. Anyway. love em. the fixie is about as minimal as its gonna get (i shall keep the 'chicken sticker on. those brakes are ther to stay, me thinks)

I got em at Peter Moore (abbotsford) Cycles for $160. I was aware of the $129 online purchase but figured Peter had done so much good work on the fixie for relatively little and after being flooded with so many requests re 'fix'ing bikes he's thinking of doing more conversions in quantity for off-the-shelf numbers i figured that the extra bucks was money well spent (hope your readin this 'MHFOR' ...). Everytime i wander in there i think 'Bugger the job, I'll chuck it in and work here'. One can but dream...

wellman is retiring as well! didnt know that.....a sad day at windy hill, he was a stalwart of our backline for many years. In that case the AFL will be calling the RSPCA in the fourth quarter to save any more animal cruelty. Im so [censored] because it wont be on TV over here in Perth so i hope its on the wireless.

This shop is 'different'. checkit. Its like the ultimate bike shed and there is little hi-end stuff unless you ask for it to be 'got' in. He specialises in getting people on their way on everything from (drool) an Airnimal to the 30yr old Apollo. No carbon fibre in sight (really) and there always seems to be someone in there with their bike up on his stand doing their own work. Bring it orn!
