  1. You know all of the complaining that you all are doing about Pampered
Chef makes me wonder something. If you buy something at Walmart, Target
or your local cooking supply store and it breaks say three years later
can you return it for another brand-new one???? I love Pampered Chef
and that is why I became a consultant. Our prices are not so because of
"demonstration procedures" because we consultants and the hostess pay
for all items related to demo's. They are that way because of the high
quality. Yeah there may be some duds, but which company does not have
those. If you dont like it, send it back- you have a month to do so, if
it breaks send it back- everything comes with a minimum one-year
guarantee. I wish that if I buy something at Walmart and a year later
it breaks or does not work right I could have taken it back to get
    another new one.

As for the cheap stones- be careful with those. I have read and heard
that they can be cheaper because they are made in other countries and
hence can have lead in them. Just remember one thing- you get what you
    pay for in the end.

The warranties come from the manufacturer, not the store where you purchased
    the item.

I bought a pizza cutter from a co-worker when his wife hosted a Pampered
Chef party. It won't cut even thin-crust pizza worth a darn; I use a chef's
knife to slice pizza. I also got their garlic press. Now, my old garlic
press had built-in tines and you just flipped the handle backwards to clean
out the 'press'. The Pampered Chef version has a clip-on plastic cleaning
thing which comes off in the drawer and gets lost in the dishwasher. Hate
    it.

As to the warranties - the fact that "friends" (and in my case, co-workers)
are selling this stuff makes it rather uncomfortable to say "I want to
return this". I suppose this is what they are counting on.

No, your prices, like those of Tupperware & such are high because of the way
the profit is shared between consultant/manager/distributor/Company. The
same items sold in a store would be much cheaper - even with the guarantee.

Sorry. No. Go to any housewares store and look around. The quality of
a few items is high. The largest part of the inventory is ordinary.

I took back a flour sifter a year after I got it (Christmas to
Christmas) to Wal-Mart and they replaced it no questions asked.

But most guarantees are from the manufacturer, not the store.

Right. If they're being sold by a reputable company that has them made
overseas, do you really believe they'd risk the lawsuits and
    governmental action that would bring?

Nah. But you never get more than you pay for...

  5. Pampered Chef: Ecko quality and Williams Sonoma Prices.

If you're going to do parasitic direct marketting, at least
sell your friends something they'll use up like candles or
makeup or adult incontinence products, instead of dull edged,
    poorly plated, thin gage kitchenware.

Ummm...Ecko adjustable cheese slicer - handle and frame made of some
kind of metal - broke right in half while I was using it. Nice cut on
my thumb from the jagged metal combined with the downforce of my
    cutting action.

I need to find a better cheese slicer - love the adjustable part, but
don't want to get cut again.

    Gloried pyramid schemes, IMHO.

We've got a *bunch* of PC stuff that someone who will remain nameless
bought. Most of it is servicable but not outstanding, but identical
products can be had elsewhere for much less. Well, identical except for
the little hen logo. I avoid using the stuff. It just takes up a bunch
of room in a cabinet because the one who bought it doesn't use it much
    either.

    Best regards,
    Bob

Nah. Like most MLM sales, your prices are high because of all
the "sponsors" above you on the pyramid who get a commission
    on your sale.

You sound like the Amway folks who blame their prices on the
    product being "so-o-o-o concentrated".

Anyone who has ever had to sit through a MLM recruiting session
thinly disguised as a "party" knows that!
