I am an overweight unfit returnee yesterday I cycled up the local
hills (Pentlands), for those that know the area I cycled from Balerno
to Glencorse and back, via a flint /crushed stone path thing and
today my thighs are screaming in agony . Trip involved a lot of
climbing but on the way back was all down hill, except a wee bit
from Glencorse to a pass in the hills managed to get to some insane
out of control speeds even with the brake blocks seemingly melting
The high speed bits were on the road from the carpark at the
Pentlands down into Balerno, even I am not daft enough to speed
through sheep along a flint path.

I'm an overwieght unfit beginner. Some of the worst pain I have had was
tailbone injury before I learned to sit properly.EFR

Ile de FranceSorry about that was muscle pain, mostly gone now after another
shower and some gentle exercising.think it was just a lactic acid
build up (didn't warm down properly).--

She didn't say it was caused by sitting on a bike ;-) (Oh, and insertion
of an 'h' in the right place is interesting, too.)

today my thighs are screaming in agony .Hmm, I have a slightly different problem. Having progressed from an unfit
beginner to, I suppose, a reasonably fit regular commuter cyclist whose
speed has gradually increased over the years, I now find that it seems the
only way to get faster is going to involve pain of the searing lungs,
throbbing heart and lactic acid aching of thighs variety. I have always
ridden at the limit of what was 'comfortable' for me, albeit that as I got
fitter that became faster, but now I don't think more is possible without
willingness to undergo pain. It may have to be. Beastway season is coming
up!Rich
