I wrote this to a friend about why I thought O'Grady would win-

1) O'Grady has been consistently in the top 5 or 10 in big races this year
even when working for his leader (Cancellera).
2) The big favourite this year is Cancellera. That makes Stuey, the other
"protected" CSC rider, doubly dangerous and looking to attack.

P-R this year is forecast to be hot and dry with no wind which means that

3) There is more of a chance for a larger group to finish, making Cancellera's
chances diminish and increases Stuey's

4) Benefits O'Grady because he's Australian (likes heat) and strong but not
as big as Boonen or Backstedt who would do better in a wind.

3) Makes a track sprint more likely which advantages O'Grady who goes fast
in a sprint and more importantly, is an Olympic track gold medallist and so
knows his way around a Velodrome.

right. He fades at the end of the long ones" and chose Boonen instead.
I must have jinxed Tom since I was 6th at Boulder-Roubaix yesterday.
At least I had a teammate win. Also in third. Fourth too.

Before I posted, I briefly considered O'Grady too, mostly due to the string of
good finishes he's had this season. But I didn't count on him carrying that good
form through to this one. At least Hammond managed a top ten again. I wonder if he
used too much up in G-W on Weds.
