When it comes to over-unders, is anyone else just utterly exhausted by the constant debate over whether alternating between just above and just below threshold is actually beneficial for everyone, or if its just a bunch of pseudo-scientific nonsense being spewed by coaches with a vested interest in selling training plans?

    Seriously, how many of you have actually tried this method and seen real, tangible results? And by that, I mean results that cant be explained away by a combination of placebo effect, confirmation bias, and the fact that youre probably riding more regularly than the average bear.

    I mean, think about it - were essentially talking about trying to find a magic zone where youre simultaneously stressing your body and also not stressing it, like some kind of physiological tightrope walker. And dont even get me started on the whole just above and just below threshold thing - what does that even mean, exactly? Are we talking about heart rate, power output, perceived exertion... what?

    And lets be real here, folks - if over-unders really did work, wouldnt we see a lot more pros doing them? I mean, Im pretty sure the guys on the WorldTour arent exactly hurting for training advice or access to expensive coaches, so if this method was truly the key to unlocking a higher level of fitness, wouldnt they be all over it?
