I remember talking to some chap about the Bernaise (spelling ?) bothy near loch Monar and he
mentioned "Oh, the one with the map pinned to the wall". I'd put the map up some years before after
forgetting my map-case and getting it wet. I'd reasoned it wouldn't survive folding up to carry out.
It felt strange that a memory of my trip had become a feature. I guess it's the same kind of think
as gathering bog-wood for the benefit of future visitors who you'll never meet; having enjoyed a
modest fire from the labours of your predecessors who'd done the same.

Brings to mind a visit just last week to Charr bothy and in the gloom and darkness of the room a map
was visible pinned to the wall. Thinking it was indeed an os of the area I got out the torch and was
amused to find it was a map of Newfoundland. I can only assume the original owner was well lost !
