Any of you old timers ever hear of a Weslo "Cardio Walk" treadmill? By
looking at it, I'd say it's a 60's vintage at least. It was in an
attic for over 20 years after being used 3x, so I snatched it up for
$20, actually free because the dude owed me $20. The electronic part,
a simple LCD display with only a basic function or two that no longer
work, but the dial that's connected by a bicycle cable for the tension
still works, even though it's labeled as a "speed control". It has
arms to work the upper body, and a pin that can hold them stationary,
or remove it to use the arms too. The arms have a seperate tension
control too, and are independant of the treadmill, unlike an eliptical
trainer that forces them to work in coordination with your feet.
Anyone familiar with this machine? Or know where I can get info? I'd
like to get the electronic part working again just for ha ha's. It
runs off of a magnet on one of the rollers that passes another one
mounted on the frame, and I guess that is supposed to do something,
but it doesn't.
Any info?

TIABill, I suppose that magnet passes the coil and induces a tiny current
that the sensor in the display unit reads. Check all the connections
and replace the battery.
Most likely you are not generating enough speed for the unit to
register. It probably starts to register at 1 mph. If you have a
hamster or other small pet you might let them work out on it while you
minotor the display.
