  1. We've had a couple of threads mentioning other sports that urc-ers get
up to. What other sports do you guys get up to?

    I'll start the ball rolling;

    o I play 5-a-side football once a week.

o I recently (last August) joined a local martial arts club (Wing Tsun,
    to be precise).

o I was going to a swimming class regularly, but I don't have much time
for swimming just now with all the martial arts and football.

o I've done some sailing, but not much recently.

I'm considering trying some kayaking, possibly sea kayaking.

My main 'sport'. The great benefit over cycling being that you don't have
to stop to brew up or sleep. Otherwise quite similar - you spend a lot
of money on kit which allows you to get cold, wet and tired in amazing
    and beautiful surroundings.

    Ultimate frisbee
    Fencing
    Badminton

Also a little running and circuit training, but that's mainly to help with
the frisbee. In case anyone thinks I must be super fit, I do all of the
above to a _very_ low level.

Didn't do any last season, but I've known to get on a boat and pull ropes.

Of course, think about the skills, the strategy and the training needed

Orienteering, the occasional run or exercise class, walking, sea kayaking,
    skiing.

Though I count most of these not as sports but more as enjoyable ways to
move about outdoors - more touring oriented than
    training/speed/competition. Like my cycling 🙂

Tennis, but I guess you knew that already!

I'm also a scuba diver, but not regular and tend to be a summer holiday
    diver.

I'm very interested on getting into kayaking or similar. However this is
just because I have the Thames down the road, and feel that I should use it.
Am trying to get a couple of mates (and a dog?) into coming along for a trip
    on a skiff this summer.

Roos and I are quite keen outdoorsy types, fairly regularly walking,
orienteering and sea kayaking, occasional canoeing and climbing (I'm
more likely to do those, she'll go for a run which I almost never do),
and free heel skiing when we can. I need to get back into the habit of
    an occasional game of squash.

Walking with my girlfriend. We did the Coast to Coast last year and get

Crossing the A1 ( and the vale of York? ) was a bit boring, wasn't it? I
were fit then - took 7 days.

Sailing if given the chance these days or in fact any kind of boating.

In my time I have been heavily involved in caving for about 20 years but
gave it up in my late 30's.Climbing was a secondary main event , similarly
reduced to hill walking .in later years. I have owned 5 different types of
boat, narrowboat, "gin palace" ( motor cruiser), Outboard motored fishing
boat, Beniteau Wizz sail boat ( a bit like a laser2 but faster) and another
nameless sailing dinghy. All long gone now.

But if I ever win the lottery I should buy a small sea going yacht, main
power sail, with an engine and disappear to travel as far as I can.
