Many searches seem to yield these websites in their results and
they're a royal PITA! No matter how I state my search criteria, these
stupid websites keep appearing in the results.

Go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs and look to see if something
called Search Assistant (by WinTools) is installed. Remove it.

Well, checked it all out and this doesn't appear to be the culprit. In
fact, I figured it was time I did some more in-depth checking, so verified
all installed programs, and found nothing suspicious.
FWIW, I routinely run Spybot Search & Destroy with Spobot S&D Resident,
Ad-Aware, WinPatrol, and SpywareBlaster. None of these tools shows a
problem. I also run AVG anti-virus software and have both hardware and
software firewalls.
This is either a total fluke or completely invisible. :-)
Thanks for the suggest, though. It certainly sounded like that could be
it. I'll keep looking, however, because it does seem like a parasite.
