  1. Reading this group has been one of the best inspirations for me to
continue with the low carb lifestyle, and I want to thank all of you who
    post helpful and encouraging things,
I have lurked in here for years,

As much as I want to participate here, there are regular posters who
have something against webtv, and assume those of us who find our way to
this news group have a lower mentality because if it.
I have also been accused of being a troll and a "sock puppet" when I
    have posted here.

I have webtv at home, as I have kids, and a computer at my business. I
have more time when at home to enjoy reading news groups.

What kind of mentality classifies someone as stupid, simply because of
the type of equipment is used to read and post in here?
That's just plain stupid, in and of itself.

    ok, I feel better now.
    Back to lurking.

Happy Holidays to all you nice people. 🙂

  2. So, which post was it that brought you out of lurk mode, Cindy?

  3. Roger,
I grazed posts that caught my interest going back a couple weeks.
You posted a reply that read, "You're too stupid to understand why low
    carb works, webtv'er."
How does using webtv have anything to do with it?
    Cindy

  4. Was there a point you were trying to make, webtv idiot?

Quite frankly Usenet, however you are accessing it, it is still
Usenet, is not a place for people that are easily offended or
take things personal. There is a lot of good information here
along with plenty of trash, get a little thicker skinned and
    enjoy.

    Merry Christmas,

It's like when you kill a creepy bug....not only do you step on it, but you
turn your foot left-to-right and right-to-left to make sure you really got
    it good.

    Understand?

BTW, you answer your question: It's not the mere fact that a person posts
from webtv that draws fire, Cindy. It really has more to do with the
content of the posts from folks (in general) from webtv. Think about it.
Perhaps you can change that. But you'd better learn a bit about how to
    reply to posts first....

Thou dost protest too loudly. I just read your posts on ASDLC since
the beginning of 2002 and glanced through your ones before that.
Since 2004 every single one of your posts has complained about the
topic. In going into 2004 and before not one of your posts included
such a complaint. I challenge you to make those complaints not
apply to you by posting on topic as you have in the past.

Simply put, WebTV as a "web toaster" to make surfing easier.
Since that's what it is it does in fact draw large numbers of people
who are less web/internet/usenet savvy. It also draws a small
number of experts who use it for the convenience and people at
other points of the spectrum. Savvy people as a trend tend to move
to other devices and other providers once they are no longer ignorant.

There isn't any way out of the categorization that WebTVers are
as a class not computer savvy. It's the audience the box was built
for. So if you want to be seen otherwise, act otherwise. Laments
simply reenforce the impression that you fit the trend rather than
    bucking the trend.

But that's a trend not a universal rule. The way for *you* to make the
trend not be a universal rule is to post as you did in 2004 and before,
    not in 2004 and since.

BTW, I post through Google Groups. Since Google Groups is a
free service that looks like it is a web forum, it also draws clueless
non-savvy newbies. Glancing at my headers would lead you to a
first impression that I might be such a clueless non-savvy newbie.
Bu looking through the archives at my postings shows otherwise,
especially in my career oriented postings. I know I need to live
down my choice of providers. I challenge you to understand the
same dymanic and to live down your choice of providers. Go back
to how you posted before your laments.

  18. Hey Cindy, I used to be a 1800-GOWEBTV customer service agent/technical
support, and I know it is ignorant of people to judge before they know.

But unfortunately WebTV back in the day let people run rampant, who were
ignorant of social skills/netiquitte and made a bad name for everyone with a
webby. I havent read the rest of the now long thread, but hold your head
    high.

And damn shame on anyone who judges before knowing how a person will post,
just like we all have been affected by being judged for being fat.

    Get the point?

Not very good. You want to learn to Smallify. You also need to leave in
the name of the person you are quoting.

Now I realize anyone who has lurked here for any amount of time knows
that JC said the first two sentences, but he did not say; "Being and ass
is not low carb"; and someone may assume that he did if you do not quote
    properly.

Here is a link that will teach you to smallify, or "quote" text the way
the newsreaders do with computers. Practice by sending yourself some
emails. I will be happy to assist you if you have any questions.
