It may be their age, or maybe their sobriety, or maybe both, but the Van Halen played the most professional concert last night in all the 5 times now (4 times with Dave, 1 with Sammy) I've seen them so far. No BS'ing, no antics, no 15-min speech on how it was cool to party with the girls last night after drinking a fifth of liquor - NO, just straight hit-after-hit-after-hit playing for 2 solid hours. From the "You Really Got Me" opening song to "Jump" encore, it was just a rock 'n roll concert with one of the greatest vocal (lyrical) and guitar bands ever (IMHO only). They played 3-4 songs from each of their (Dave-) albums. Dave held up his voice, Alex kicked on drums, Wolfgang (Eddie's kid) did well on bass AND backup vocals, and of course Eddie was phenomenal. Dave and Eddie traded licks (musical, not physical this time 🙂, Alex and Eddie did the proverbial solos (I'm not one to like them much), but all in all the band just really, really rocked.
If you're a fan, and have a chance to see them, I highly recommend it!

Agree, M.A. was under-rated, especially for the contributions you mentioned; but I believe he actually declined to tour.

Kinda like the Zep without JPJ or The Who without Moon The Loon. Even so, if they are doing it up right as I feel Queen did without John Deacon or Freddie Mercury, it's worth it. There's no denying Brian May or Eddie Van Halen are not easily in the top ten rock guitarists of all time. I'd love to see Eddie shred.

there was a girl in DC who won, but then couldn't afford the plane ticket over there. she tried to raise the money on a web site, but failed. she had to give the ticket back. they have strict rules about transferrals and resale.
