The other day I was shopping down the Oxford Road, the 4X4 was on the
double yellow line outside and when I came out of Maplins Mr Plod was
just getting his notebook out.
"Give an old lady a chance, sonny" I said, "My back's bad, you can't
expect me to walk."
He didn't say anything, just tightened his lips and started writing.
So I asked if his parents were married?
He still didn't say anything, but he looked round the car and found a
tyre that was a bit short of tread and wrote that down too.
So I told him he'd make a good concentration camp guard.
He kicked the exhaust to see if it was loose, and when he'd made it
loose he wrote that down too.
This went on for twenty minutes or so until I'd run out of insults and
he'd found everything wrong with the car that possibly could be wrong
with it, then he marched off with his nose in the air.
So I got on my bike and went back to work.
Us old people have to take our fun where we find it.

Bicycle helmets are really a bit of a scam.
They make most cyclists slightly less safe but there's money in selling them.
