OT: Turbo Tax Tangle Rant

Hmmm, I have XP and am using Turbo Tax basic again this year -- no
problems at all. I wonder if there's some other common denominator
between those having trouble...

Did you try to install it using a limited user profile, or as an
administrator? (it shouldn't matter.) Try installing it from the
administrator's profile and install it for use by all users. HTH :-)

administrator? (it shouldn't matter.) Try installing it from the
administrator's profile and install it for use by all users. HTH :-)

Thanks - we've been trying a new fix or two every day. The forum was full of
them. Seems to be a conflict between some video processors or other files
running or somebody's *.exe . Or else a demon's on the disk. Ol' Whiskerface
bought the deluxe version of TT - deluxe alright. fumingfuming

Good point -- I haven't had this problem and I'm always logged in
as administrator...

Yet another reason why I love my Mac. Problems of this nature on Mac OS
X are not nearly as frequent as they are for Windows users. My copy of
Turbo Tax is on its way to me from Amazon.com now and I expect a
trouble-free intallation.

By the way, in case you Windows users haven't heard, MS has released
patches for all Windows versions in the past week to fix yet more
security vulnerabilities.

I just installed Turbo Tax Deluxe with States on my computer running
Windows XP. No problems at all, everything installed. My windows XP
ihas the latest upgrades on it, however.

And Apple released a $500 Mac that's supposed to tempt Windows users.
Order it with a gig of RAM and you're up to $1000 - and you still have

Get MasterCook, it is very good and the past several versions run well on
XP. BTW; you have quite an imagination; it would never have occured to me
to try and manage recipes using a tax prep program.

XP. BTW; you have quite an imagination; it would never have occured to me
to try and manage recipes using a tax prep program.

We don't tax unprocessed food items in Texas.

If Mac sold as many units as Windows, the hackers would be exploiting all
the potential security problems there. Glad you like your Mac, but some of
us just don't.

All OS have security issues. One is too many. My point is, if you are
going to exploit security issues, you go after the ones that give the
greatest yield. If you are a deviate virus writer, what would get the most
attention, a virus that attacks Windows or one that can destroy a Commodore
28?
