  1. There used to be (still is?) a service like tiny url, but it wasn't
    the same company. I liked them better because the first referring page
    told you where you were being sent, so if you didn't want to go there,
    you could refuse. Anyone remember what the url was? Thanks!

    Interestingly, I was checking out some old Usenet threads on Google, these
    had URL shortcuts, specifically www.tinyurl.com . When I clicked on several
    of these links the Google thread to which they linked showed up blank.

    How "reliable" will these URL shortcut link be a few years hence, I wonder?
