Thats too bad. I liked him as an actor. His credits are pretty

And there's at least one other short I remember him in that isn't
listed here ("Cages", a father of two sons, who works in a coal
mine - very obscure).

I heard about Don Knotts on the TV the other night, but hadn't heard
about the others. The name Darren McGavin didn't mean anything to me, but
I certainly recognised the face - Kolchak - Night Stalker! Though I must
have watched those as repeats in later years, unless it aired here a lot
later than it did in the US which was 74-75 (I'd have been 9-10 and I
don't think my mum would have let me watch The Night Stalker <g>.

And Dennis Weaver - my main memory of him is of McCloud. Rob's main
memory is of him in Duel, which I've never actually seen.

It does make you feel old when they keep reporting deaths of actors and
personalities that you remember watching. Not quite as old as I felt when
I found out that one of the girls at work had no idea who Robert Redford
was!

I think I remember him best as Chester in "Gunsmoke."

I've often wondered what the dead spreads were like for celebrities. Anyone

Is Duel the movie about the big semi chasing the guy in the car around? If
I recall, Weaver was the business man driving the car.

A couple of years ago I had a college student working for me. He came
into my office one day and I had the radio on, with "Let's get it on"
by Marvin Gaye playing. This fellow said "I didn't know that was a real song...
I thought they just made that up for Austin Powers". It was a shock
to both of us that he didn't know who Marvin Gaye was, and I didn't know
who Austin Powers was. I found myself on the other side of the
generation gap, and I didn't even notice it had happened!
