I gotta hand it to you. When I have any kind of repair, my mind is stuck on
the repair. I'm dreading already having an electrical panel replaced which
may take 2 days next week, one day to get it done and one to get the
inspection rounded up -- and I'm worried about getting a spot for dry ice
inside two refrigerator freezers. I can't possibly eat the fish, chicken,
and beef that is there.

That's a [censored] poor solution to a skewed slab foundation. I would have
opted to have the house jacked up, had a basement bulldozed out,
removed the c-menta slab, then set the house down all plumb and level
on it's new foundation joists... a guaranteed solution and probably
would be more cost efficient measured against the results obtained...
this is done quite often up here in NY with ancient farm houses that
were built on field stone footings with only a crawl space, that have
been shifting for 100, even 200 years. Your way is a gamble, I think a
poor gamble. And I wouldn't want yards of solid concrete pumped under
a building I'm living in. All that porous mass will hold a lot of
moisture, not very healthful living, a house has to breathe. Also, be
sure to test for radon, all that new concrete with no ventilation is
apt to emit radon. Just food for thought.

The meat they delivered was a mix of cuts from both ends of the
animal. Total delivered weight was 126.5 lbs meat plus 7 lbs stock
bones. I won't be buying beef at the store for a while.

Included in the delivery were 6 T-Bones, 6 rib eyes, 2 sirloins, a
skirt steak, a flank steak, 5 round steaks, 4 chuck roasts, 2 arm
steaks, something called a Pike's Peak roast (??), a tri-tip, 2 packs
of loin tip "kebob meat," half a brisket, 5 packs of ribs, 3 packs of
shanks, and 32 lbs of ground beef.

They also threw in some ox tails and a pound of some sort of beef
sausage they wanted us to try in case we got hungry for some meat or
something.

Scary!!!!!!!

Yeah, I woke last night around 4 a.m. and found it hard to breathe for
a while. It was my first (and I hope only) anxiety attack. It was
the house.

The pour was delayed till today. Man, those guys worked HARD. They
had to run the concrete from the truck to the holes with a brigade of
wheel barrows. The job foreman was barking orders like "Come in hot
and dump it!" while an underling arranged strips of chipboard in paths
on the lawn to reduce the damage to the grass. There were five or six
men running the wet concrete to various pits around the foundation.
The job boss told me how many yards of concrete he expected to pour,
but I can't remember. By 2:30 it was done. Some of the holes were
over 4 feet deep before, the're less than three feet deep now.

D and I left for Dallas to drop some art off at a gallery and to meet
friends at Tei Tei for dinner (OBFood). We ate very well and
pretended that the meal wasn't nearly as expensive as it was.
