  1. In the nearly 10 years I've been posting in this ng, I have
never been reported to my ISP for violating its TOS.
Yesterday was a first. Someone took exception to something I
posted - no idea what - and all my ISP will tell me was that
it was off-topic (like that never happens in this ng) and I
appeared to be advertising a commercial website. All I can
figure is it was in response to my posting a link to an anti-
Dubyuh website. Whoever you are, take a chill pill.
Reporting someone to his or her ISP is for serious stuff,
not political disagreements or whatever triggered this.

Sorry this happened to you. I've had exactly one instance
when someone reported me. Actually called my ISP. Didn't
like what I had to say, and was ticked off at me for

I think who ever it was that reported Terry, needs to
    relax a bit.

I come here because I enjoy the interplay between such
diverse people that we have in this newsgroup.

We have met in this group because of the love of a good
meal, and I think a good meal includes discussion , as
varied as possible. I certainty do not hide my thoughts, and
I expect that other do not either. As is self evident as my
previous discussions with ( that no good socialist 🙂 )
Michael and others. If we all felt the same about politics,
it would make a very boring meal and would effect the
    enjoyment of the food itself.

So all subjects are available for discussion at dinner (
except if in regards to the lack of skill in my cooking ).

So kick back ,relax and en joy the dinner talk. If you don't
wish to join don't. Just don't pay any attention and go
    about your business.

    you in this category.

Thank you Micheal and *well* said. There are any number of
immature/emotionally damaged people on Usenet who have *no*
business being on Usenet (this is a general comment, not
directed at anyone here specifically...). These folks need
to get off Usenet and take some real - life action to get
over whatever problems they have (be they emotional,
"political", whatever...) instead of using newsgroups as a
foil for whatever they are lacking in their lives. Usenet
can be a pretty rough place to be and it's not the place
for folks who nurse their petty real - life grievances and
get their jollies off (to compensate for the lack of
control they have over their own lives) by reporting others
    to their ISP's....

Usenet should be a fun place to be and no one should be
afraid that someone is going to NetKKKop them for their
socio/political or whatever views. It's always been my
contention that every ISP should have a "hands off" TOS re:
Usenet - the exceptions being kiddie [censored] and commercial
spam. If someone is claiming they are being "harrassed" or
"stalked" then they should take that up with the respective
police/law enforcement departments. Otherwise it becomes an
adolescent cesspool of tattling, story - telling, and phony
tale - telling to the people in charge, e.g. the abuse desks
    of folks' ISP's....

If you don't like political talk or dirty words or "OT"
discussions or somebody "bothering" you, then filter them
out, it's very easy. Oh, and please get a SENSE OF HUMOR....

What the aforementioned person did when they reported Terry
to her ISP was nothing more but cowardly SNITCHING pure and
simple. They should be ashamed (and sqwertz should be one to
talk...I think I have prolly about ten of his shape -
    shifting permutations in my killfile....).

It's too bad there is not some kind of "maturity filter" for
people who want to post on Usenet, but it is what is and so
    there you are....

    My .02 kopecks FWIW...natcherly YMMV :-)

It's not censorship. That's the oldest, lamest
    argument there is.

It's called maintaining organization. You're free to say
whatever you want in the appropriate forum. But just like
you're not free to come into my kitchen and preach the word
of god to me, you should refrain from posting in
inappropriate groups and ISP's should and do enforce it.

This is *not* censorship. The government can and does
control how you may use free speech. The concept of "Free
Speech" does not mean you can say whatever you want anytime
    and anywhere you want.

It wasn't (or doesn't have to be) about any political

It's called common sense. Your argument hold no weight.

I'm saying that topics should pertain to the spirit of the
group. Discussing Bush, Kerry, Iraq, or whatever world

    for that purpose.

People don't go to AA to talk about weight-loss and low-carb-
