Quoted message said:I used to play tennis many years ago. Unfortunately a sufficiently long
time ago that it pre-dates my access to the web, so I'm afraid I can't
help with links. I would say that comments from people who can't actually
see what you are doing aren't necessarily worth a lot. My advice: join a
club (if you haven't already) - most clubs arrange group sessions with
coaches, and there will be plenty of other people there keen to talk about
it. Be prepared to be not very good - it can take months to get your eye
in as well as experienced regular players, and years to match their level
of anticipation. If you are doing it for exercise, though, this is a good
thing because what you lack in anticipation you have to make up for with
running around. If you have just taken up tennis at this time of year,
does that mean you have access to an indoor court?
Yes, I've joined a local club, it's an excellent one so I'm lucky to have it
so close. My original thought was to play on council courts, but I quickly
realised that I'd be the only one there. Hence the reason to join a club.
They have two indoor bubble courts, but also have three floodlit outdoor
courts. After ten minutes the cold isn't a problem, and I'm not paying extra
to play indoors. However I think that my lessons will indoor, so that will
be nice.

you want to do both at a high level, but for general fitness I didn't find
any problems except playing tennis for several hours and then cycling a
long way home - that can be very hard on the knees.
I'm not 'serious' about any sport, I'm too old to be serious!I've decided
that going to a gym is a complete waste of time, I can't stand the things,
so tennis it is. I'm enjoying it so far!
