  1. Got Beer?

Well, the ole Coot is having a birthday really soon, and I'm hosting a
lil git-together. So if you're in the neighborhood, and feel inclined,
stop by for free micro-brews and raise a toast, shed a tear, for one of
our own is gettin really old. Happens at Rockies Diner, on Overland,
betw 4 and 5pm tomorrow, Mtn Std time, Boise, Idaho.

Shucks, can't make it, but I'll be supping a beer in your name down
    here in Trinidad.

Getting older is fun, I just took another step closer to 40 at the
weekend and so far my legs haven't seized up and I've not been tempted
by the golf demon like so many of my aging pals. What is it that can
turn the most crazed mtber into some one who thinks hitting a wee ball
around a big field is fun????

Happy b-day and here's to Fox/SRAM/Shimano developing a pacemaker for
    geriatric mtbers.

From one old fart to another...

    Happy Birthday!

And don't worry about it. Today I get to ride with some real old farts
(54+) who I'll see for all of three minutes before they disappear off
into the distance on the trail.

Happy birthday! I don't think I'll be able to make it.
I'm sure you still have plenty to look forward to, like schooling young
whippersnappers. That's what the older guys I ride with do to me on a
    regular basis!

You know we'd be there, but instead we will open a nice bottle of
Belgian and toast you my friend!

LOL, ya know, you n Carla were the only ones I really had to worry
about, sending out an international invite for FREE BEER, and good beer
at that, heheh I wouldn't be surprised if you hopped a plane just to
keep me to my promise...🙂 🙂 Now that would be a super cool birthday
    present, too.

But thanks for the toast. As you know, I'm always on the lookout for
excuses to gather the folks and lift a glass or two.

48yrs young tomorrow, never been in better shape. Doing a huge ride
that starts with a fairly tough and technical trail up on the mtn, but
quickly hooks into a 14 mile descent from our ski hill and runs on
singletrack in and out of the woods until finishing up in town.

Wish y'all were here, but I'll just try and make do...

Golf, ---- what a joke. I love the picture of this dirtbag freerider
jumping over these dudes on the golf course. Thanks.

Our largest racing class, believe it or not, is the 40 to 49'ers! In 2
years I'll have at least a slim chance to make the podium (maybe...)

And the most faithful rider to my weekly new-Barney rides is a 67yr old
    retired Navy guy.

Main diff betw late 40's and early 20's, is it takes longer to heal,
longer to warm up, you lose fitness fast, and get it back slower.
Other than that, my wife's still cute, I like my work, have lots of
friends, so hey future, bring it on. And I think I'll try for some half
(or ful) iron-mans before I hit the half century mark. Just have to get
my swimming back up to par...

Well it definitely can be done. I grew up watching my parents do
Ironmans. Made for a nice fall (10 days in Kona) for me in high school.
Mom was the first woman over 40 to break 12 Hours back in '87 (or so).

Sorry I couldn't make it. I was driving through Texas (thankfully on I-40,
not I-10) on Friday and spent the night in Oklahoma somewhere???? Would
    rather have driven to Idaho.

    Happy old day

Gary (huh? what did you say?)
