Nonsense. Anyone can and will steal your silver. It's exceedingly
rare guests won't go through your bathroom stuff too, and many will
take something, nail clippers, scissors, bars of soap, toothpaste, even
the aspirin... I've even had an ancient rectal thermometer stolen (no,
it wasn't monogrammed) and I know it had to be one of only two
people... all I could do is hope they enjoy it. I no longer keep
anything other than a couple cheapo hand towels, dispenser soap, and
one extra roll of TP in my guest bathroom... and yes, I've had TP taken
too. Most folks simply won't admit that their family members, friends, and
acquaintances lift their stuff.Another reason no one is permitted to help in my kitchen. I don't
permit guests to wander freely about my home either... they have no
business in my office and bedroom areas. I don't know about yoose but
I don't invite people to make themselves at home.Sheldon
That's so sad, Sheldon. The only time anyone's stolen from me was when my
young (11 years old) cousin who took a pair of inexpensive earrings (and
was made to apologize for the theft when it was discovered.) I've even had
an rfc cook-in in my home with 40-ish people (most of whom I'd only
encountered online) and not only was nothing missing, but I was given a
number of nice hostess gifts in tribute to the hospitality.
Ever stop to think maybe you own nothing worth stealing... no one is
going to steal your fercocktah ancient mismatched stainless... they can
lift the same from Olive Garden, too.

So, you're saying ordinary west-coaster folks have no sterling.
When people haphazardly display valubles (like leaving cash, jewlery,
silver, collectibles, and such exposed) it's called an "attractive
nuisance". They're encouraging someone to partake and someone will,
and it's not 100% the thief's fault. I no longer leave valuables in
areas where I entertain guests and no longer permit guests in areas
where I keep valuables.
Sheldon (who finds it utterly amazing how many claim to lead such
perfectly sterile little lives and then come to rfc to whine about
every megative event that befalls them on a daily basis)
