  1. Wife was watching TVLAND Sunday morning and I caught a few minutes of
the Flip Wilson show. (Why can't anyone make a TV show like that
anymore?) George Gobel was on and he and Flip sang this song and it's
been running around in circles in my head ever since. So, nice guy that
I am, I'm trying to pass it off to one of you:

"YOU DONE STOMPED ON MY HEART (AND YOU MASHED THAT SUCKER FLAT)"
    By: Mason Williams

I told you that I loved you and you said, "That is good"
I called you my darlin' and thought I always would
But now you've gone and left me and I don't know where you're at
You done stomped on my heart and mashed that sucker flat.

    (Chorus):
You just stomped on my heart, you broke it all apart
Sweetheart, you just sorta stomped on my aorta
You started stepping out with guys, I felt us drift apart
And every step you took was a stomp upon my heart.

I only hope that some day, when you have got the blues
In some lonely room, you look down at your shoes
And think about the tender heart you crushed beneath those soles
With your cold bustin' stompers you left my chest so full of holes.

    (Chorus)

And every step you took was a stomp upon my heart.

    (Yodel)

That's called an 'earworm' 🙂 They bore into your brain and you can't find
    the off-switch for the music!

  3. How did you remember all the words in the verses on one hearing???

That's hysterical, and now it's got my generic country music tune stuck
    in my brain!

They sang the chorus twice, so that's what I remembered and have been
playing over and over again. I googled the rest to post it here, and to
file away for future reference. Also, I thought maybe the problem was I
was subconsciously trying to remember the lyrics to the verses.

Can we hear the song or just read the lyrics? It sounds hysterical!
Imagine George Gobel (with his hang dog face) singing that. LOL!

I saw that. I have something different nagging at me from that show. At
the end, when Flip was passing the guests in review, who was the first male
that passed across the stage? I only caught a glimpse and he seemed
familiar, but I couldn't place him. help

I only saw that one bit; I was getting ready for church. Sorry, I
    didn't see the review.

Now that I know the show comes on, I'm gonna start recording it.
