[OT] Should I install Service Pack 2?

I did it this morning. Took about an hour (broadband).Seems to be working at
the moment. Only moan (so far) is that if you view messages in Outlook
Express as text only, you can't alter the text size of the messages,
microsoft choose a size and tough if you'd like to change it. Bizzarre.

I got the CD and installed it at home last weekend. Downloaded it from
the microsoft site for work. Apart from a nag screen about updating
the virus checking I have not noticed any other problems.

No, install Mac OS X. It's much better. Or Linux, if you don't feel like
having a new computer to go with it.

No, install Mac OS X. It's much better. Or Linux, if you don't feel like
having a new computer to go with it.

That's pretty fundamental too. But either of those options leads to a
serene and trouble-free future, where the computer is your servant instead
of a nagging master.

I have opted out of OE completely and am using Mozilla Thunderbird. Free
download at:

Much better than OE and has some good filtering built in. Course I have
also dumped IE and am using Firefox as well. Oh and I installed Sp2 two
weeks ago without a hitch.

launch a browser direct from a URL within an email or news message (seemed
to be a 'feature'😉, you had to cut and paste the link. Very crappy. Didnt
try it on Windows. Is that fixed now or does it work on Windows XP anyway?

I moved to Netscape 7 after IE began loading huge movie files
automatically and pop ups were coming in from all over the place.

But lately Netscape has tended to exit unexpectedly, so I've changed
again to Mozilla Firefox. It will import both Netscape bookmarked links
and IE favourites.

I also use Turnpike from Demon, which allows me to choose which browser
opens up links in emails and news posts.

I don't think it was ever a problem on Windows, and I believe it's been
fixed on the various Linux distros.

The Firefox Pre release has moved things on a lot and is a great
improvement on Ie and previous versions of Firefox. I think your
problem may have had some messed up "default broweser" settings.
Definately not a problem now.

Maybe a setup issue then? TBird 0.8 IIRC. red hat AS 3.1 Firefox but dont
recall which version, not on that system at the mo.

Thanks, can you send me a URL or a howto or whatever? Maybe I should also
look at downloadinga newer version. I did spend some time trying to fix it
but gave up, it seemed pretty lame it didnt just work first time. As a Linux
newbie it just seemed too hard to fix for something so basic.
