their mating habits. What if Fabien gets gang banged by a whole

ah, that thing looks cool....I remember watching (on Shark Week or some
other such program - Discovery?) that someone built a robotic shark and
used it to swim around in the ocean to perform various experiments in
the natural habitat, see how other sharks would interact with it, and
such. it wasn't a complete failure, but the real ones didn't really
accept it so much as one of them, but just a shark-shaped machine flying
around in the water close to them.

Are there any great whites off the west coast of the conti USA? I thought
just the ivory coast and Austrailia...

There are Great Whites off just about any coast in the temperate and tropical
areas of the world. We just had one here in New England (17 ft or so, IIRC,
about 1 ton).
They have been recorded occasionally off England since 1769.
Well travelled beasties, them.

I believe their are more Great whites off of California now than there are
off of Australia, due to the huge populations of sea lions and
seals---classic predator / prey relationship.

Even off of Florida a population of great whites exists. They are caught by
sport fisherman off the hump near Key West, and north of Palm Beach, in
Stuart, there used to be a shark fishery ( closed down around 1970) in which
100,000 sharks a year were taken, and of this, approx 1% were great whites.
One of my friends shot one on video along a reef 140 feet deep off of
Jupiter in the early 80's....but this was the only sighting by a diver I
have ever heard of in Florida. We see 12 foot bull sharks and 16 foot
hammerheads on a fairly regular basis if we go where they go, but the GW's
diet seems to keep them in other places--statistically speaking.
