I buy a lot online too, not because I am trying to avoid anything, but because it is so easy and
convienent!! Takes no time at all, you do not have to worry about traffic, and pushy sales people.

Delivery is fast and with few exceptions, the whole transaction is almost tooo easy.. Rosie

Oh don't let's get started on traffic! Even when I *do* go to a store, which is rare, I know what I
want and run in, buy it and get out. Salespeople: No I don't need your help, thank you! 🙂

Good intentions won't get you off here. As crazy as it may sound to you, it's the law and if the
states ever figure out a way to enforce it, we'll all feel the pinch. It might cause something like
California's Prop 13 and we'll all have to turn Republican.

Shopping online doesn't make me avoid taxes at all. My state requires me to pay a tax for items I've
purchased online and haven't paid sales tax on. If you don't want to keep track of your purchases
through the year, they have a formula you can use that's based on your income, and you pay that.
It's called a "use" tax.

I think bank robbers don't like to work either....much easier to steal from others. There's always
justifications available if you look for them.

I do most all my shopping on line and have noticed that within the past year most every retailer now
collects sales tax. In order not to lose sales, to compensate, they drop the shipping charges on
larger orders, say $100 and up... and they've started giving substantial discounts to those who sign
up to receive their on-line news letter. It still costs less to shop on line and is a far more
pleasurable experience compared to maul hopping.

Indeed... I often buy online from companies that have stores just a few miles away. I could have
walked into a store and bought this computer by Dell, for example. I chose not to. Paid the sales
tax. Ditto my lingerie from Victoria's Secret; there is a store not far from where I work. Choose
not to. I pay my share of taxes, never fear.

I think most taxes are similar to robbery. I am sick and tired of all these taxes, and I am willing
to take fewer government services as compensation. Unfortunately neither the democrats nor the
republicans are willing to cut the pork and other [censored]. When will big government ever end?

With 46 of the 50 states with sales/use taxes on the books....it's a near certainty that the vast
majority of mail/phone/internet sales in the USA should be/are taxed. That people don't pay the
taxes due doesn't mean they don't exist......just that the taxes aren't being paid.

you should buy that at the supermarket as well.

Sorry, but the cat can't eat just anything. She's subject to UTI's and most supermarkets don't stock
that food. Besides, if you shop online well you can find e-coupons and free shipping in many
instances.
