  1. The knee is healing. I hope to be on my road bike next week. However,
my old Time pedals take a pretty hard twist to release. My PT and doc
say I need to avoid that sort of force on the graft for now.
I could put some clunky old SPDs on with low release tension but I
wouldn't mind something more stylish e.g. SpeedPlays (don't know how
    much twist these require though).

    Thoughts? Opinions?

    Thanks,
    Shawn

P.S. Maybe I can write these off as a medical expense. ;-)

  2. I have a pair of the shimnao spdsl on my road bike that I realy like. the
realse is adjustable, so just set it up as easy as you can. I got a pair of
speedplay zeros that I havnt tried yet, but theres no rease tension
adjustability on those. I'd say if realse tension is the consideration, go
with a pair of the shimanos. The ultegra ones can be had from performance
    for $144.

    Good Luck

Go with a non clipless pedal till your back to 100 %.
    Then switch back to clipless.

Ooh old school. Thought about it, Christophe clips and straps. I don't
have any pedals to put them on though.

Speedplays twist out very easily. I actually have Frogs on both road and
mt bikes. In fact, I'll be wearing my clunky mtb shoes during a road
race tomorrow (because my only other pair with cleats is sandals).

Assuming the design is the same as my Speedplays, there is no adjusting
needed. To be any easier to twist away from, the pedals would need an
ejection system. (There is a spring involved, but it's just compressible
    rubber in the cleat.)

I've been using TIME's for many years now and never had a problem. If you
use the red cleats you get more float, better for your knees. I use the
carbon ones so they weigh almost nothing and you never feel them on your
    feet.

I've got ancient Times as well. Time for a change though. My orthopod
says don't worry about the force of releasing, so no I need a new excuse
    for new pedals.
Hmm, my Time cleats are kinda treacherous, being all metal contacting
the ground. Wouldn't want to slip and reinjure my knee. That'll do!
