  1. I don't know if any of you remember my friend Sarah Monroe (GMSpider) from
the crime group I used to read. Some of you may have had contact with her
during my lengthy illness back in '03. At any rate I am very saddened to
say Sarah has passed away. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage a couple of
days ago. She lives in Atlanta and is a dear friend. I will miss the hell
out of her. I'll do a dead spread in her honor and I'll serve up some
liver pate' for my cats. She had her beloved Geronimo cat at her side when
she first got ill. Her cat loved pate'.

RIP Sarah, although I know you still have one thing left to do before you
go to eternal peace. I *do* know your spirit will be around for awhile
until you make the life of that certain author we both know and detest a
complete living hell 😉 You only partially managed to make her miserable
while you were alive. I'm confident you will finish the job in death.

    Will always remember you Sarah,

    Love, Michael

You can always post a 'tinypic' of her so that others can see her and put a
    face to a name.

But either way......... our (the SO and me) thoughts are with you Dogman,
and more especially with her family.

We are all born to die. It's what we do with the time between birth and
    death that makes a difference.

Tell her to say 'Gidday' to Kay and Don for us. (Both lost mid-August to

Dan, everyone, thank you for your thoughts. It's just now sinking in. I
thought about it the entire time I was horseback riding this morning.
Methinks I'll continue living my days like it was the last. Except I'll do
mostly what the docs tell me to do... mostly. Just in case I have more days
    left.

Yes, I do remember her and her late night posts with updates about you.
She even sent me personal emails a couple of times, when you were not
expected to recover and she knew how worried I was.

I am sorry for your loss. It hurts to lose a good friend. Thank you

Thank you Christy. I think about you, my friend Chris undergoing chemo
and a couple of other people. Chris is going to stay with us for long
weekends the next couple of months. Her mother will be staying here also.
Chris has been getting extremely sick after her therapy and Steven
insists they stay with us during treatment. Chris lives about 2 1/2
hours from St. Louis but she has been way too sick to travel after the
last 2 treatments. I met them last week after Chris' treatment to take
them to dinner. Chris immediately puked all over the passenger side of my
Jeep. I'm talking projectile here... Bleh... I immediately took the Jeep
to the guys who do the detailing on it. Jim looked inside and started
[censored] about the clean up. When I explained what happened his face got
real soft and he immediately started ordering the employees to jump on
the interior detailing. Later I learned his mother died of breast
cancer. Chris is having her second bout with it. She thought she was
safe. She had not had a flare up of it in 7 years. Steven will go to her
place in Springfield, MO to make sure her horses and animals are taken
care of by Chris' staff. He'll bring her little Lhaso back so the pooch
be able to stay with his momma 😉 Poor thing. Hoot will stalk it
relentlessly. Hoot thinks small dogs are prey. They will be here
Thursday through Saturday or Sundays until after Thanksgiving. Her son
will come to visit now and then. I love having a houseful of people.
Lots of cooking, dining out and laughing within these walls. I can't
*wait* until my mother meets Chris' mother. Both are proper ladies but
very hard headed. Both have the same political interests and both have
plenty of money and love to spend it. I'll lay down 5 bucks they wind up
on a shopping expedition in NY or LA with the excuse of Xmas shopping 🙂
Gaw I'm long winded this morning. I'm meeting the other Kris at her
stables at 9 for a long horseback ride. Then we are meeting some friends
at Two Nice Guys for lunch. Mmmmm... pizza. After lunch it's into the
garden for a couple of hours. I haven't even thought about dinner
tonight. I've got some chicken in the fridge. Guess I'll grill it.

    Ironic, isn't it?

sf, were you reading and/or posting in rfc at that time? If so, you may
remember that some heartless idiot thought it was a good idea to post
something about Michael having been transferred to a Hospice, where he
would spend his last few days or hours, as nothing more could be done
for him. I suppose that it would be possible to find that post even now.

In any case, I really lost it when I read that post. Sarah notified me
right away, that the post and information was pure fiction and even
Michael's Mother telephoned me that evening to try and set my mind at
ease. It was a really kind act on her part.

It was Sarah, to whom I am so grateful. She said that Michael was not
in a hospice. She explained at length why she did not think that
Michael was about to die and that he was getting better day by day and
she expected him to come home soon. Walking out of the hospital with
Steven on his side, not on a stretcher and disputing every sentence from
    that horrible post.

Of course, I still had my doubts and worries, until Michael actually
came to New York and I met him in person and saw that he was just fine,
at a much later time. :o)

Yes, I remember Sarah -- as you say, she visited RFC when you were
ill, trying to share information about you with your friends. Some
troll posted that you had already passed and it upset her (and others)
greatly. She wound up asking me to screen the e-mail from people who
wanted your address. She didn't know who the real RFC regulars were,
but I did, and she wanted info to get to the right folks.

She was soooo worried about you and I could see that she cared for
    you very much, Michael. I'm sorry you've lost such a loving friend;
I believe she's gone to a better place.

troll posted that you had already passed and it upset her (and others)
greatly. She wound up asking me to screen the e-mail from people who
wanted your address. She didn't know who the real RFC regulars were,
but I did, and she wanted info to get to the right folks.

She was soooo worried about you and I could see that she cared for
    you very much, Michael. I'm sorry you've lost such a loving friend;
I believe she's gone to a better place.

    Big virtual hugs - Jani
