We surely did get to hear Ray Charles a lot over here, in
Italy. Even too much, in my opinion: every summer.

Ragarding being poor, and what is to be poor, I remember a
discussion with a student collegue of mine, from Formosa, a
long time ago. We agreed that most people in the US had a
lot more things at their disposal than in our own
countries, that even the poor would have commodities that
would be almost luxury items elsewhere. But that, poor or
not, you people usually were not able, or apt, to take good
care of your belongings, nor to use them in the best
possible manner.

What nerve! I have a good mind to get out the scythe and
clear a path to one of the starting cars in my front yard
