I downloaded XNews after your last accolade... but oh, man is it ever
complicated! It wasn't designed for the common person, so I deleted
it after a few blunders. Too bad - I was ready for a change.
You may want to give Thunderbird a try. Perhaps not as versatile as
XNews, but it does have the multiple identities feature. It is
relatively easy to configure (at least IMHO. http://www.mozilla.org
I am still using the Mozilla suite rather than Thunderbird. It, too,
offers multiple identities which are easily configured with different
sigs for each identity.
I'm sorry XNews was such a pain Peter. It can be complicated needs to be
tweaked. Many people just don't want to fool with it. I like XNews a lot
and find it to be very versatile but it takes a lot of tweaking to get it
'just right'. Thunderbird is a good reader. Dennis, what other newsreaders
have you tried?
Michael
I've tried XNews & Agent as well as Opera, Mozilla, Thunderbird,
Netscape (every version since 3.0), and, of course, Outlook & Outlook
Express. Mozilla suite remains my current favorite for the balance of
features v. ease of use. Thunderbird is more or less identical to the
mail/news component of Mozilla suite (minor differences in appearance &
features). I am no expert, but I know what works for me. I don't do
multipart binaries, so I can't really say what works best there.
