    Bob,

You have an adelphia.net email address, Adelphia gives you 5 GB's of
downloads per month from Giganews free. I think you have to set it up
through a NNTP server, which would be hard to use anywhere.
    Login here:

    http://www.adelphia.net/x.php?u=http://www.adelphia.net/files/adelphia/redirect.php?to=http://www.adelphiapowerpage.com/synacor/products/index.cfm

Newsgroups info is at the bottom of the page.

If you wanted to pay, you could log on directly to www.giganews.com & use
it. They might have a discount for people who already have adelphia
    accounts.

You can also use google news anywhere, it's free.

    www.x-privat.org

It's in Italy, I think. I tried a different one but didn't like it, seemed
to be down or at least inaccessible a lot, usenetzone, IIRC. This one seems
    pretty reliable, so far.

Newsguy. Fee-based. I've used them since about 1998 and have been
    very happy with them.

Thanks, Julie. I need it for work. I can get the groups at home, but at
work, we use SNET (and I'm too chicken to go ask what the login info. is
    for SNET newsgroups).
