I bought a new camera that just arrived today. I couldn't find mine
last December when I went out to Laughlin and I'm going on vacation
again so I figured I'd buy me another one. So, I bought the Panasonic
FZ20 from B&H on Saturday. Of course I found my other digital camera
the next day in my duck hunting vest. I'll post pics in a few day but
from what I understand, it's one bad ass camera. I got it for only
$499 + shipping.

Didn't you know that when you shot the ducks, you were supposed to use a
shotgun? -

Hehe. I did. My camera was amongst about a dozen and a half shotguns
shells. It was from my last trip in late November after the deer
firearms season. I think I even posted how there were so few ducks
flying and Keith mentioned that they had a lot out by him yet. But,
we had way colder weather in the central part of the continent so the
ducks in our flyway had already moved south. As a matter of fact,
thousands (perhaps millions) moved south the Saturday night of my
trip. We could hear them quacking in the night on their journey to
open water in the South. -

Not very likely; no-one who wears a hunting waistcoat and loses his

My boss just told me to buy a new digital cam for our dept., being as it
was not my money I splurged and bought a digital SLR, the only way to go
IMO, no shutter lag, as easy as a point & shoot, and far better results.
In a couple of more years they'll be down in price, you can already
pick one up for about the same price as a high end point & shoot tho... -

I have an 'all singing all dancing' digital camera which my son
recommended to me, as it is not something that I know much about.
However, it is very easy to use and my wife gave me a high spec
photographic printer for Christmas, and I'm really producing some good
results. Very satisfying!Have a great weekend Jurgen - I always do!! ;o)

You may regret encouraging them.
I hope your trash is kept in secure containers. When the walnuts and
pecans run out, that's what's next. And if they number more than one
(which they frequently do), you will then be treated to a nighttime
cacophony of them fighting over the tastiest tidbits.

I take a lot of sports pics (my kids soccer & basketball etc) and the
thing I hated most about the digital P&S I have is that you *always*
missed the pic you want. The digital slr is just like my regular slr,
you press the shutter and it goes off, no lag, no missed pic. I also
picked up a new printer during one of the many boxing week sales here,
and Epson 300r for C$150 - and I am IMPRESSED, I did an 8X10 from a
scanned negative on the printers best settings and I cant tell it from a
lab print! Even on the lower setting which spits out the picture in < 1m
you have to put yer noggin right up to it to see the dots that give it
away when comparing it to a lab print. -

I could be worse then that from the sound of it! I went to the range,
then stopped at the Expo store to look at some lamps! I don't know
what's better, the smell of gun powder or good lighting....--

I hope your trash is kept in secure containers. When the walnuts and
pecans run out, that's what's next. And if they number more than one
(which they frequently do), you will then be treated to a nighttime
cacophony of them fighting over the tastiest tidbits.Good point. Aren't they ungrateful. I had just enough sanity to check
the horror stories so eating on the porch was an exception. Backyard
is bordering a wooded area and a watershed and there are some bird
feeders there. That's where they and squirrels normally eat from and I
can't do much about that. We also have rabbits, opossums, occasional
deer, cats and feral kids.We live well within the municipality, on the border of the local
college, yet we have everything you mentioned except the deer. Well,
the population of feral children has also been significantly reduced
by them maturing and leaving home.A couple of weeks ago I let the dogs out to pee, and I saw a very
large 'possum walking across the driveway toward the garage. I said
nothing, hoping the dogs wouldn't see it, but the Chessie did, and he
immediately went after it. The 'possum ran into the garage, and I
could hear crashing from him knocking things over; I managed to call
off the dog before he got to the door. There's enough of a mess in
the garage as it is; the last thing I need is for it to be splattered
with blood and strewn with 'possum flesh. There's also a holly tree right next to the single-story sunroom which
allows squirrels, 'coons, 'possums, and cats full access to the roof.
You never know what you'll see looking back at you when you look out
the second-floor bedroom window.

The Panasonic has 12X optical zoom plus optical image stabilization
which is supposed to really help with those long range shots. It was
highly recommended on some photography sites/forums.http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/FZ20/FZ20A.HTM
