Cute pup!

I quit adopting puppies years ago. I know my limitations and I don't
have time for one. I only adopt adult dogs now...

It's going to be awhile before I'm in the market for another one since I
still have the poodle and the border collie, and help my house mate care
for the two lab/chows, but my next dog will be a sable corgie.

Normally I peruse the local shelter.
That's where I got the border collie.
Fuzzy mutt was adopted at about 6 months of age from a couple that just
decided they did not want him anymore because their chows picked on him
and would not let him eat.

Threw away a very, very wonderful little dog.

If Buddy doesn't have a stick when near the water, he will go in and
fish one off the bottom. Of course, it doesn't float so he has to go
diving for it again when I throw it back in the water.

She was abandoned on our street.

The picture was outside:-) The dogs are inside dogs that spend a lot
of time outside. I use Innotek's invisible fencing but Bailey is too
young for that right now. Buddy will sit out in the front yard for
hours watching people/animals going for walks, etc.

near my house on Sunday. After tossing the throw dummy into the water
for Buddy about a dozen times, we went for a walk. After walking
about a half mile past the lake, Buddy's nose goes into game mode (you
can hear the flesh on his nose expanding and him taking deep breaths
through it.) and runs into the thick woods right off the trail. Sure
enough, he jumps up a hen mallard who flies out and lands about 30
yards from me on the trail. Well, Buddy and Bailey are looking all
over for this bird so of course I point her out to Buddy. He took off
after her and she made a beeline in the direction of the lake. We
never did find a nest so I don't know what the hell she was doing in
there.

Speaking of dogs and waterfowl, I took Sheba to Floyd Lamb State Park, which
is loaded with ducks and geese and peacocks and a pair of crane and an
occasional hawk and eagle. It's baby bird season, and Sheba loves to chase
nesting momma ducks off their nests. She never harms the eggs, just finds
scaring momma ducks to be fun.

So, she scares this little momma duck, who gets really REALLY [censored] and
starts yelling at Sheba. "QUACKquack quack QUACKQUACK quack quackquack!!!"
Sheba gets this mortified look on her face, like "Ah, jeez, lady, I was just
kidding" and slinks away, properly scolded.

This dog don't hunt.

How far from the water was the duck/nest? Typically they build their
nest very close to the water which makes me think that the duck in the
woods didn't have a nest. Nor did she put up any fight against Buddy.
She just flew off. Weird.
