  1. tuffgirl gave me a digital photo of me that I want to do some work on, but I
am having some trouble with adjusting the resolution. Although it's a jpg,
the image/pixel/size settings and options seem to responding differently
than when I work with my own jpgs
Goal is to have a much clarity as possible, photo is a bit hazy, so I can
crop the best part and use it in some small images.
    Current dimesions are:
    1339 pixels by 1004.
    document size 35x428 inches,
    resolution 37.795 pixels inch.

constrain proportions and resample image=bicubic are checked

I can either upload the pic, email to someone, or just have you tell me how
    to do it.
    I"m using version 6.0

    thanks

I use the reco "Elements" version. It has a menu named "image" with a
"resize" function. Seems like PS would have this too. Might also check
if resaving it with your software, then openning the "saved" version
    changes some problematic setting.
    Hope this helps.

elements is the dumbed down version of PS, Instead of just resizing a photo
you have a lot of options within the resize function ( pixel size, pixels
per inch, document dimension, how resolution is calculated and so on). I've
been resizing and tweaking photos in PS for years, it's this one that's
    giving me trouble

    but thanks for trying... ;-)

  4. Penny,
Go out and buy yourself a copy of PaintShop, and forget all the "document size"
and "pixels per inch" BS - just use pixels and forget the rest. ;-)

I prefer "cheap", or as I said "reco" for recreational.

Resaving didn't help? Sometimes with that dumbed down Windows OS I've
    found this can resolve problems.

For web use, it is normal to save graphics at 72px/inch, as that used to
be the standard resolution of computer monitors.

I suggest that you try applying a moderate unsharp mask to the image, then
resize it to suite the page, assuming it will be displayed at 72px/inch.
For example, if you wanted a 3" tall image on the page, you would resize
it to be 216px tall (with the proportions constrained).

Alternatively, send it to me with the parts you are interested in and I'll
do my best! Email addy below.

Ack! Why do you Adobe geeks have to be so complicated for a simple piccie
(it's not like this is a pre-press department or anything).?
