Are any of you wearing Crocks? This material looks like the slip ons that were available all over Hawaii, sometimes there were little magnets in them, sometimes they had a little bit of texture to the inside bottom. They seemed pretty comfortable, but to wear them for any length of time, there wasn't very much support.
I saw someone at the doors in Costco this morning wearing them. I always ask if they are comfortable when I see someone wearing them, and they usually answer yes, but this could be in comparison to what they had previously worn.
Anybody that is wearing them now because you are on your feet a lot in the kitchen?

Everyone I know owns Crocs in various colors at the hospital. They're cheap, colorful, incredibly lightweight and comfy. They might not seem as if they have support, but I never notice a problem with my back or feet after long (up to 18 hours) shifts. When I'm not in my Crocs, I wear DANSKO clogs which are solid, heavy, expensive and also very comfortable. THe Crocs models with the holes on top are risky (spills) and the hospital is considering banning those because of that but they come closed toe also (just not as cute, IMO). A LOT of people were wearing them on the golf course during The Master's last year. I do have a problem at times with the way my feet occasionally "grip" the floor and it has almost caused a tumble. In the kitchen that could be deadly!

Hmmmmm. I haven't noticed Mario's feet in years. Not sure he has either. LOL. But I don't remember them having a heel strap. Weren't his more slip- ons? Maybe he's upgraded.

I use my crocks for for holding utensils -- wood spoons, spatulas, etc. I've got Mom's 15- or 20-gallon one and stand gift wrap rolls in it.
La Twerp has Crocs and I've a pair of knock-offs from Fleet Farm; they're the most comfortable shoe I'm wearing in the summer and for $8. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://www.jamlady.eboard.com - Fair baking

Shoes like these are "all the rage" over in our neck of the woods too (RSA). Not sure if they are genuine "Crocks" tho', haven't looked that closely.

I quite agree with the f'uglieness. I'd never be caught dead with them, no mater how comfortable they are claimed to be. There are plenty of non-f'ugly options that are perfectly comfortable.
Since I neither work in a hospital nor wear crocs, I have no first hand knowledge, one way or the other. This is only what I've read and heard on tv news.

LOL... I have a couple of crocks I use for utensils. For the gift wrap rolls I use this tall bamboo thing to store them in. I seldom use gift wrap so the whole mess is in a closet in the basement.

We get the original Crocks from a medical supply store at a nice discount. I've also got a couple of pairs of those really comfy clogs (don't know the brand) that medical people wear. I love them too. Extremely comfortable.

I have a pair of pink ones, they are pretty comfortable and have good traction. My only complaint is that if your feet sweat you slide in them, so this is probably the reason to wear socks with them. I wear them until I can kick them off and run barefoot............ -ginny

Heh. I suppose some people will think we are "crazy". Truth be told, I think f'ugliness is in the "eye of the beholder". For instance, those "platform shoes" from the '70s (don't know if you are old enough to remember) look really f'ugly to me now - and yet when I was a teenager I couldn't wait to buy them, just because they were fashionable at the time 😉 But they were far from comfortable, IIRC... -- Cheers Chatty Cathy

The first time I saw Crocks was 4 years ago, when I went to Brazil with a friend who had plastic surgery. She stepped in a mud puddle and we had to rinse out her shoes. They were as light as a feather. Now I see them everywhere. I saw a man wearing a bright orange pair, and for some reason, they look strange on men. Maybe it is just me.

Since I neither work in a hospital nor wear crocs, I have no first hand knowledge, one way or the other. This is only what I've read and heard on tv news.
I live on the San Francisco peninsula (lucky me!) and almost every kid and teenager I see is wearing Crocs or a knock off. I don't know if I would buy them as I am neither, except at heart, but I love the bright colors of these shoes. It is beautiful here today and will most likely be in the low 80's.
