  1. I'm using Outlook Express as my newsreader. I'd like to
killfile all messages that are crossposted to soc.support.fat-
    acceptance.

Anyone here have any clues on how to do this?

    Anny

  2. No, but I was going to ask the same question! I'm eagerly
    awaiting advice!

  3. I found an old but no-longer-supported program called
    Nfilter netaxs.comnfilter that is
supposed to allow you to "drop" the messages that are x-
posted but I can't seem to get it to work.

If anyone gets it to work please post back here so that
others can reap the benefit of your work. These x-posts are
    driving me nuts.

  5. Actually as far as I'm aware in OE you have to do each
person individually and then they change their name. If you
want to block that newsgroup, you have to subscribe to stop
    the messages! Stupid, eh?

  6. Here's what I'm trying I subscribed to these annoying
newsgroups with my synchronize setting at don't syncronize,
so I don't get messages from them and then in tools I went
to rules for news groups and set up delete for each
    newsgroups too.

  7. Thank you, this is very helpful!

  8. Another thing you can do is, when you get the first
crossposted message, is selecting it, then click on
"Message" in the menu bar and then "Ignore conversation". It
doesn't mean you are really rid of them but they show up
differently and it is easier to ignore them. You can even
get rid of them completely by then going to View- Current
views- hide read or ignored messages. (but it also mean you
will not see your read messages anymore. If you still want
to see the read messages, check the OE helpfiles on keyword
"ignore message" and they tell you how to set up a rule for
this.) A pity to see they have such an effect on our ng...
this morning I only had 15 messages (of which 2 were
crossposted) whereas most of the times I have more than
hundred. I hope it stops soon!

  13. One thing I did figure out is that you have to change the
news server name in OE to localhost. I got it working on
Teranews but that server is so unpredictible that I am now
trying to get it to work with my regular news account. It is
more difficult because it uses SSL security. I'll figure it
    out somehow. I hate cross-posts.
