OT: Gun safes?

I too have a mixture similar to yours (one fast access handgun safe by
the bed, another tough little safe for the others, etc. but one
container for everything, appeals to me. The good ones are real
monsters, but it's a one time purchase. I think they look cool anyway.

I've seen some very heavy wall safes for guns available. What about one
of those?

My rifles are tucked away out of sight in an undisclosed location.
The new .357 is usually somewhere in the house where I can get at it
quickly.

..357 Ruger Redhawk. Finally got to fire it last weekend.

Am considering a safe drilled into the concrete foundation.

Trouble is, that would not do me a hell of a lot of good if I needed to
get to a weapon quickly in the case of a break-in.

That's one of the many reasons I bought the thing.

That's one of the many reasons I bought the thing.

One big safe for your collection and other goods and one small fast
access safe in bedroom. That's how many people deal with it. Some states
now require it. If yours does not, then you leave one gun where ever you
want and only lose one if you get robbed or have a fire. Considering the
amount of damage fires do each year (it's in the billions I believe) it
makes sense it's best to have a fire and theft rated safe. All it takes
is the person below you to fall asleep with a cig in their bed and [censored],
all you stuff is gone.

Mine's a Sentry that is bolted to the wall and to the floor. The
weight was something in the 300 pound range. I keep a couple of the
handguns scattered around the house hidden away and loaded unless I
expect no one to be around then I lock them up or take them with me.
I also have another "overflow" case that is bolted down but isn't very
secure for some of my older/cheaper rifles.

I have a Liberty safe that weighs in the neighborhood of 1300 lbs.
It's bolted to the wall and the floor. ALWAYS get one that's fire rated
as well. Just an ordinary house fire can reach over 1000 degrees and
that would not be good for your guns. I also upgraded the door when I
ordered mine from 3/8" to 1/2".

Local outfit sells a brand called 'Liberty' which I bought. 1,800 lbs
make it probably safe from being carried away. It's also fireproofed to
UL standards for something or another.

Once I had it, I found all sorts of other stuff I felt better storing in
there like cameras, papers and so forth.

Also Browning makes a good safe. There is also a modular safe you can
move yourself.

battery-powered Makita.

My goal is to dissuade the stupid kid, or the crackhead, or the handyman
from Tijuana. Couple extra hundred pounds might do that.

And insurance. Steal all my guns, and I get to go on a REALLY fun shopping
spree!

I assume, then, you have a "rider policy" for firearms. Many people
don't know their are fairly low policy limits for firearms thefts.
