  1. Marvin is back online, but Zaphod's system disk has just packed up! Aaaaarghh! Poxy computers. I
might have to bite the bullet and actually buy a PC - these ones are all falling apart on me, and
not one of them more than six years old! Luckily Slartibartfast is a Proper Computer (TM) - an HP
    Netserver.

Oh, and my DNS transfer is finally happening. Stupid ISPs and registry resellers. Demon have offered
me a decent service, so I can kick the rest into touch.

Seems to be a Feechur of recent computers.

My two ('95 and '96 models) still have their original discs going strong. But more recent discs -
like the huge 6Gb upgrade I bought in late-98 for working working on HyperDAAC - have packed up.

Grrr ... Demon seem good until something catastrophic happens. I got [censored] after two extended
periods with no connectivity in a week - following which I researched alternatives. Next time it
happened I subscribed to an alternative.

I run a few mini-ITXes at home. Linux works great on them. They're quiet too. (Its easy to Google
for a relpy email to me)

Zaphod is running fine here as he has been for the last 6 years or so.

Why should that help? The horribly expensive disks on the IBM servers (RS6000?) at work seem just as
prone to collapsing as the cheap ones..

    cheers, clive
