I'm so sorry, Laureen. It doesn't make it any easier even
if you know they're leaving. She sounds like a lovely woman.

My prayers are with you, Laureen. Know that she was aware that she was
loved - that you loved her. As much as you hurt right now, you will
never regret the extra time you spent. Believe me, I know.

Thank you for your kindness everyone. I am quite emotionally fragile
right now. We had a family dinner last night. The waitress asked me "
How come you're so quiet Laureen?" My reply.... "Im going to cry" I
covered my face with my hands and Larry told her. I am an in control
person but my emotions are all over the place. I cant seem to get a
grip. Maybe typing this will help?? I'm lost. My heart is broken. I
miss her terribly. I returned to her room to get her yesterday morning
and ceremoniously slid her name tag out of its holder at the door to
    her room.

It is Tuesday morning and she took a turn for the worse Friday
afternoon. I got up Friday morning and slept maybe 4 hours until last
night. I went in her room Friday afternoon and saw that "look" in her
eyes. I admit I was struck with bewilderment and terror at first as
she was awake but rambling incoherently. Then the light bulb went off
and I realized "this was the beginning of the end" By 9 pm she was out
and unresponsive and remained that way until she passed. Sunday
evening my friend left the room at 10:20pm, I asked the nurse for her
shot at 10:30 and she told me she would be in soon, I slipped off to
sleep in the recliner chair next to her bed, at 10:45 the nurse came
in and in the 15 minutes that I dozed off, Gram's breathing went
shallow with lots of apneaic episodes. I told her to go ahead and give
her the 4mg of Morphine through her heplock. I started crying and
telling Gram "It's ok Go home Gram, its beautiful up there". The nurse
shut the door for our privacy. 11:08 I went outside the door and told
her "She's taking her last little breaths" She came in and sat with me
and put the stethoscope on her chest and listened for a while. 2
minutes later she was gone. It was a very quiet calm beautful passing.
I sat there holding her hand and weeping. It was the first time her
hand really warmed up!!! My aunt got there kind of late and was
distraught she missed Grams passing. She leaned over and said "Is it
nice up there Junie? Tell Momma hi for me". Her funeral is very
personal as family is doing it all. My cousin is delivering her eulogy
and singing. My other cousin who is a minister that lives in Montana
is singing with his daughter on a cd and we will play that at the end.
Her obituary will be in tomorrows paper and I will share it with you
    Thank you again, Laureen

  18. Laureen, I'm so sorry. I know it was such a comfort to her to have you
there for her during her final few months bringing her everything her heart
desired. May you find comfort in knowing she is in a beautiful place where
there is no pain. May God bless and comfort you.
    Em

  19. Plz take comfort also in knowing we are all praying for your peace and
strength as you face this week and the empty months ahead. She is in God's
loving arms now, where she can see God's face and all that he has prepared
just for her eternity, Praise God! Its a privilege to call him Father. She
was a gift he gave you, and your memories now become a bridge to her, a
bridge only you have. Grams are so special and sweet, I miss mine too.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and Larry.
