This afternoon, I congratulated Ranee on her growing family, and
mentioned to Om that she should go very lightly with the lemon juice on
her salads. Neither post has shown up.

I didn't, but when I used to post from Google groups, I found that there
was often quite a delay sometimes, and it was not consistant!
And yea, I'd go easy on the lemon, and probably substitute lime
sometimes!
Thanks! :-)

cannot wait to welcome to new addition.
Congratulations, Ranee! Pretty soon, you're going to have your own
little baseball team! More kids in the future, or are five enough?
Wishing you a happy and uneventful pregnancy and a happy, healthy
child.

It's typical for Google to do maintenence on their systems on
weekends/holidays... posts made during these periods will suddenly
appear all at once.

Use the lemon juice very, very sparingly.

Possibly Google thought your post looked tasty. Take it as a
compliment to your cooking.

I saw the one regarding lemon juice. I replied saying I usually use
about a tbsp of lemon juice.

No kidding Google was seemingly weary over the weekend. I posted a
recipe that Google told me would not make the board, to try again, so I
did. Hah! Same recipe now here four times!
I am so new to usenet that there are many things I have not learned,
but I think I remember talk here of having one's own newsreader other
than Google. Could someone elaborate, please? My computer man does
not get into usenet at all, so he cannot help me.
Thank you, PickyPerplexed

Here's a definition to get you started:

Also on Wikipedia is a good background on what usenent is:

Part B of posting test, this one via IE at 10:51 a.m. PST. Won't
surprise me if it shows up before Part A posted via Firefox. -aem

It's more than having your own newsreader, it's having news service
available. Your ISP may or may not provide a news feed. Most broadband
providers do these days, it's rare for dial-up providers (AOL dropped
theirs early in 2005.

I suspect Sheldon was right when he said Google does system
maintenance on weekends and may have delayed many posts. This is also
typical for Comcast. I was up at 2am (pst) this morning when I began
seeing hundreds of articles post to the dozen or so newsgroups I
frequent. I didn't think at the time to check if they were all
originating from google, but figured some cyber-bottleneck somewhere
had just coughed up a hairball.

Unlikely, just in general.

No, no way. This was a major screw-up by Google, it affected many
people on a number of newsgroups. People got repeated error messages,
leading them to continually repost, messages that were posted did not
show for many hours. This is not normal behavior from Google Groups.

Are you using Internet Explorer, Firefox, or some other browser? I am
experimenting with Firefox and like some of its features and its speed.
But when posting to rfc I have experienced significant delays in their
showing up when I'm using Firefox, which does not occur when I'm using
IE, even on the same day. I haven't run any good tests yet, it's just
a preliminary observation so far.
This post, for example, made at 10:48 a.m. PST via Firefox. Now I
think I'll close Firefox, go to IE, sign back in and make another post
to see which shows up first. .... -aem

Serves 'em right. Google is a lousy news service and PIA for users and
non-users, alike.
