Ha ha ha ha! LOL!!!! The bain of my existance!!!! Until about six
months ago, it was the only car insurance you could get in New Jersey.
Now that they have competition my rates have gone down. Still lousy
customer service.

madness.)

Their reputation out west tends to be if you are trying to get a fair
settlement out of them, you'll have to beat it out of them, in a lawsuit
(even if they're your own carrier). They're well known for not being
reasonable. But that doesn't mean they wouldn't be a good employer if
that's what you're thinking about.

If you like wading through voice options and then staying on-hold for
what seems like an eternity, go with Allstate. Oh, and don't try to
call them before 8:30 AM EST or after 4:30 PM EST because they are
closed. You'd think that the largest insurance carrier in the US would
offer better service, but they don't. It's too much of a PIA for me to
switch at this point and with the highest rating, I wouldn't get any
savings.
If you are looking for insurance and it's not in New Jersey, I would
check out Fireman's Fund for anything else.
Just my opinion and no I don't work for either of them.

I had them for many years claim free until my mom had a very minor fender
bender with an old pickup truck I owned. They told me *my* rates were going
to increase, and it was "not negotiable, too damn bad".
I dumped them for a "nation wide" competitor which gave me a better rate
anyway.
"Good hands" indeed. From my experience, all thier hands had up were the
middle fingers.
Why?

In NJ we have "no fault" insurance. Even if an SUVidiot blows through a
red light and hits me, I am still at least 10% at fault. I argued that
one with them for five years when my then pregnant wife was broadsided
by a taxi blowing through a stop sign. I ended up getting the 10%
missing funds directly from the cab company after explaining what a very
pregnant woman in a court room would do for my case.

I've had auto ins. with em' for quite a while with no problems at all. I've
had a few claims including one particulary active week a few yrs ago that I
won;t get into here, but they have been fine by me....

I'm going for a job, (far away from the USA.) We'll be offering technical
assistance for them, but they're saying that they require 24/7 assistance.
Weird huh?

I'm going in for technical support, so I suppose I wouldn't be that bad.

Out of curiosity, how many different insurers do you have over there?
They do not have a good rep in most parts of the country. Mind you, a lot
of the major carriers have pretty much the same rep - seems the bigger they
are, the poorer their customer service.
Personally I wouldn't touch them if any alternatives existed - and they do.

What happens when somebody files a claim seems tb the real test. I've never
filed a claim with my provider - so my only idea of how worthwhile they are
comes from a neighbor who is a lawyer and uses them because "...they cost more,
but they pay..." (as opposed, I guess, those that cost less but don't pay.....)
