Husband has just been diagnosed with lung cancer. Read where flax seed
powder helps fight it. Problem is how to get 2 tablespoons into him a day.
Tried cottage cheese but too dry to eat. Tried glass of water but doesn't
dissolve. Any ideas? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Incorporate into oatmeal, meatloaf, sprinkle on salads, add to cookies and
cakes, homemade crackers, homemade breads, make your own chocolate bark
candy using flax meal, coconut, chopped nuts...google "flax meal recipe" and
see what you come up with.My best to you and your husband, Gloria 🙂.

|I've gotten so cynical over the years here. I'm expecting another
post now in response to this one (also from someone who never posted
in ASDLC before) with a commercial website and saying something like,
"Oh yeah I buy flax powder all the time from www.xyz and I get the bet
prices!" I hope I'm wrong.Tere reason I suspect I'm not wrong is because you should get
information like that from your medical doctor for something as
serious as lung cancer, not from an unrelated newsgroup that you don't
normally post to. Plaus, you do know how to use Google I presume? As I said, geez, I've gotten cynical. Too many spammers/handpuppet
replies over the past few years I guess. -

I may not post here but read it all the time. I don't follow advice with out
checking it out. Not selling anything. Bought mine at WalMart. Will be
following Dr. advice also. Just trying to get a head start on this.Started
him on B-Complex and also iron. Figure it can't hurt to try to build him up
before medicine starts tearing him down. It is non-small cell lung cancer,
both lungs and top and bottom. No surgery able to be done. Waiting on family
Dr. to talk to cancer Drs. and see if he does more tests then specialists
sees us or if they want to see us and then do more testing. Imange it is to
see if it has spread beyond the lungs and what chemo and or radiation would
help the most. -

It sounds like you're going through a tough time right now, Gloria, and
getting the best nutritional support you can offer is probably a wise move.
I'd be doing the same thing, were I in your place. I don't know much about
lung cancers but it sounds like you're getting him the best medical help
that you can. God bless...--

Hang in there, Gloria. I have a couple of suggestions.First, be sure to read Lance Armstrong's book where he talks about some of
the details in his successful fight against cancer. Part of it was
definitely nutritional. I don't remember much of the details, other than
mountains of broccoli and some chicken. I was reading for the bicycle stuff.
But it might be very instructive. His testicular cancer had metastisized
into multiple centers in his lungs. Interesting reading. As to the ground flax, I use this frequently in a variety of ways. I agree
that it does get a bit dry when mixed with cottage cheese. In yogurt,
however, it is fine, good along with some fruit. One tip - stir it in *just*
before eating, as it does absorb water and become thicker as it stands.Which brings me to smoothies. I *always* add a couple Tbsp. ground flax to
my smoothies, as I enjoy how it makes them thicker. Again, I drink it right
away - too long and I might have to use a spoon. I make mine with soy milk
and/or cream, protein powder, a raw egg yolk, and various flavorings - plus
of course the ground flax. You can also sprinkle it on a fresh, green salad, as you might chopped
roasted nuts. Not bad, so long as you don't use too much.Again, good luck to you both.

antennae for some reason. There is just so much spam, especially all the idiotic blog-flog stuff! Arg.
Still, this ng has a significantly higher signal-to-noise ratio, once the
spam is plonked, than any other lc message board I'm aware of.HG
