And the body was so badly decomposed that a pathologist could not establish the time nor cause of death. Mr O's family reported him missing when he failed to return to his Bracknell home from a party in September last year. He left his friend's home in Easthampstead at around 2:30am and another friend spotted him driving erratically at the Priestwood roundabout about an hour later. He said "He was driving erratically and just missed the bollards. I believe it was W by the way he was driving." The next day a highway maintenance crew repaired the crash barrier on the A329M but failed to spot Mr O's silver Mitsubishi Warrior pick-up. It was eventually found after a bus driver saw "something glittering" in vegetation as he drove the Bracknell-Reading route. He noticed it on two consecutive days before pulling over to investigate. "On the third day I stopped on the hard shoulder and looked over the barrier. I could see a silver vehicle and although I was standing some distance away there was an unpleasant smell." It was impossible to tell when and how the car left the road because there was little evidence and no witnesses. And the condition of the body meant the pathologist could not establish alcohol or drug intake."
How do you deduce that from the snippet posted? He could have been having a heart attack ....
Does it say he was drink driving later on? Only his friend said 'he knew it was him by the way he was driving' which implies he always drives like a drunk.

Actually, the only reference I can see to drink-driving in this story is in the subject line of this thread and the fact that "the pathologist could not establish alcohol or drug intake". I wonder if there's a lump of this story we're missing.

Coz he was a dangerous driver (proven by means of death), and less dangerous drivers = safer for the rest of us.

If he was having a heart attack, and he didn't stop, then he was a dangerous driver. We know he didn't stop because where he crashed was some distance from where he was seen driving erratically. Furthermore, since his friend recognised him by his erratic driving, it has to be assumed he regularly drove erratically.

Or that the 'friend'[1] had seen him staggering around earlier and had no reason to expect that he'd since sobered up?
[1] If it was my friend I'd hope they'd drive me home, give me somewhere to sleep, or at least take my keys away. But it's purely academic because I don't have any friends ... I mean I don't drink alcohol. :-)
