OT: Converting UTM to Long/Lat?

My waypoints for southern Spain have 30 S before the numbers in UTM.

Depending on your GPS you should be able to set it to

Position Format: UTM
Map Datum: European 1950

and read off saved waypoints directly, or at least check a few
conversions.

I see you have some answers over in sci.geo.satellite-nav too. It might
be as well to cross-post to avoid duplicate efforts.

That only has WGS-84 and NAD-27 map data. Terry's UTM information is in
European 1950. Switching from that to WGS-84 moves a point in Southern
Spain from

Doh! Wrong waypoint. That one's in Northern Ireland but the difference
for Spain is still about 220 m.

States."

You could try GPS Utility:

http://www.gpsu.co.uk

I think the freeware version will do your conversion. Enter your UTM
refs and then change the grid and datum to whatever output you want, the
position format will change accordingly.
